I have a pk 22 just like this but in leather but the corner are tore and distressed and some of the metal has surface rust do you think I’d be better off selling as is it investing in a repair job ?

Some of the older models do in fact have the screws on the back rest supports. It's shown on some of the photos on the official Eames website.

My 1973 Herman Miller Verner Panton chair just cracked along the ribs today. 50 years old. Plastics degrade over time. Ordered a set of glossy 2 black and 2 white chairs off of Amazon. Maybe plastic is not a good sustainable choice for longevity?

Mine from the 70s do not have a stamp. Also I do need to find a good welder as they are used in the last two decades as balcony lounge chairs and certain parts broke. In any case they are good chairs to have, quite comfortable and durable.

To have an original piece is great if you can handle the required budget for that. If you don't, you don't have to suffer. Barcelona Designs has the best renditions of the market. Just like the original design it feature its tilt and swivel control and it has the best aniline leather, creating an egg chair truly loyal to the original design.

For everyone: the Knoll Europe version is chromed steel and in the US you can also get stainless steel as an option. The two originals from the Barcelona Pavilion had bolted, chrome-plated frames with ivory pigskin cushions. Fast forward to 1960, and we get the first Barcelona chairs made from stainless steel (Jerry Griffith, Chicago). In 1964 Knoll adopted this material. Mies van der Rohe said he would have used stainless from the beginning if it had been available at the time.

I have one of these from Herman Miller I picked up on eBay back in 2012. $300 for a nice original chair. This one is in the brown fabric and was made June 11th 1988 (from the year I was born). I love it and what else is fantastic is it actually cracks my back! There is just enough give in the fabric at the top so when I lean back, it pops my back in all the right places! Great multi-use chair! Haha
