It's a great place to live. As far as being safe...it's as safe as any other Northerrn Michigan small town. I have never had any issues in almost 40 years of living here, but like any town there are some bad areas to live at least. Jobs..depends on they type of work you are looking for, we have quite a few factories that are always looking for general labor. Detroit is about a 3 1/2 hour drive to the south east so not very close.

For me, it's amazingly beautiful! I love the green scenery along the way. Though it's a challenge and needs extra caution to enjoy the lake, it's worth the effort and risk.

I made the ice cream at Sherman's from 1978 until 2019 when it was sold and the product manufacturing moved to Holland Michigan. I'm glad you all enjoyed it for all those years 🍦🍧
