That's great. Now if that were a rafter you would need to cut it for a vertical and a horizontal resting place. How do you find the horizontal angle to match your vertical cut?

Should have used a 23 gauge nailer.
@buildingbridget8 күн бұрын
And what difference would that have made?

Smaller nail holes, less putty, less sanding and touch up, resulting in a finer finish.
@buildingbridget7 күн бұрын
@@Theuniverseisstrange sure but thinner nails means less durability. For the minimally smaller amount of putty and touchups (it would still be the same number of nail holes), I wouldn't find it worth it personally.
@Theuniverseisstrange7 күн бұрын
Oh no, I hope you used adhesive on the back of those boards. 18 ga nails are not meant to be structural into drywall. You need a solid plywood backer if relying on only nails. Nails are meant to be used as a temporary hold until the adhesive has a chance to cure.
@buildingbridget7 күн бұрын
@@Theuniverseisstrange small 1 inch MDF slats aren't structural though. For something heavier/bigger/something that would actually be carrying weight I'd agree with you but for purely aesthetic purposes this should be fine.

If you're av renter, make sure that the contact paper you buy doesn't leave any residue when you remove it. Sometimes it's easier to remove it by heating it up with a hairdryer (careful with heat guns, they could melt the whole thing and even the surface underneath). On some surfaces you can opt for static cling foils, but I don't think it wouldn't hold on the type of surface in that video, it doesn't seem smooth enough.
@buildingbridget11 күн бұрын
Yeah I def was thinking about the possible residue! I think if that's an issue I'll just use goo gone or something 👍
