Meshuggah were far beyond their time when they popped up on the metal scene. Another band that was beyond their time when they came up was Extol in my humble opinion. It was always these European/Scandinavian bands that somehow shaped the future of metal. I mean if you look at most modern metal bands they all draw their sound from European/Scandinavian bands. Yes North America has given us Thrash, Groove and Death metal which is the meat and potatoes of us metalheads and metal bands no matter what. But innovation in sound, style and texture seems to be driven by European/Scandinavian bands.

The way that strangely starts to fail what it looks to be the stereo amp of fredrik and he decides to put more volume on just one side and begin the solo almost at the end of it and made a fade in effect, it sounded perfectly more terrifying than that solo already was at 20:39

Tomas is such a skilled player! To be 26 or so and playing and writing what he did up until this point is unreal? And he’s taken it and consistently pushed the envelope and his skills. Bleed aside, I think he is one of the more underrated or undermentioned drummers in modern metal. There’s some stuff he lays down that puts Portnoy to shame. Plus, his ability to subdivide and count is inhuman! Damn I love this stuff it takes me back to the end of high school when we’d listen to Meshuggah and try to picture what they looked like since the internet was in its infancy.

Man I wish we could get this version of Meshuggah back for one more album like DEP. Even just one more song that has that unique sound of panic that they just never captured again once they started to lean exclusively into groovier, slower tempos. Not a knock on their legacy or anything like that, just BADLY wish they still had this panic mode in them.

@klassjostedt10 ай бұрын
Verkar hända något under solit i Our Film.
@TheBlazter019 ай бұрын
@MrHestichs8 ай бұрын
@JohannesGeworkianHellman7 ай бұрын
Men fantastiska musiker!@zter01
