Lyrics [Instrumental] [Verse 1] Sell the kids for food Weather changes moods Spring is here again Reproductive glands [Chorus] He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he Knows not what it means Knows not what it means, and I say He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he Knows not what it means Knows not what it means, and I say, "Yeah" [Verse 2] We can have some more Nature is a whore Bruises on the fruit Tender age in bloom [Chorus] He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he Knows not what it means Knows not what it means, and I say He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he Knows not what it means Knows not what it means, and I say, "Yeah" [Guitar Solo] [Chorus] He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he Knows not what it means Knows not what it means, and I say He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he Knows not what it means Knows not what it means Knows not what it means Knows not what it means, and I say, "Yeah"

When Kurt died I got home and my mom asked me if I was ok. I hadn't heard the news yet, no phones, the internet was dial up if you had it. There was a big scare for several weeks about young teens commiting suicide and we did hear about it though I think it wasnt as blown out as the news reported on cable. Cable was fresh then and they were just getting there chops together with outrage programing and viewer numbers. Anyway, we wore black arm bands for weeks in school. I dont think anyone today really realized how much Nirvana hit home for those of us in the middle ground of x and z. We were lost and still are in a way, basically the undefined. Not heros or radicals of the earlier years or looked at as inovators of the later years. I watched the gulf war live on tv only to turn into 911 on a Tuesday morning and turn into the never ending war on terror for the next 20 years. We lost alot of people to overdose, war, ptsd ect. It was constant loss. Nirvana had never been more relevant for all of us in that choas for so many years. But yea. it was a thing if you want to hear it.

When a great singer teams up with a great song composer you get Kurt covering lead belly. A great result

I remember being 14 thinking this was so deep.. So cool.. Now at 38.... This song sucks so bad... I mean it's complete garbage. And anyone who argues that, are absolutely in denial.. Lol... Dave's drumming was super tight tho!!

I used to view this vid in the 90’s and really liked it. In viewing it today it seems that Kurt was becoming ‘mad’ - perhaps with the insufferably difficulty needed to balance his creative and spiritually themed work with the demands, betrayal, and hypocrisy of the Music Industry. That alone would drive any artist ‘mad’ or dependent on drugs who had a sensitive and feeling spirit as Kurt Cobain dud. Hope he was able to resolve his inner conflicts before he passed. He was a great artist, ahead of his time. 💝 🌹🙏‼️

Take a little drum beat from Burn Rubber by The Gap Band, mix in a little base from Peace of Mind by Boston and you got the biggest grunge hit ever.

Sublime. I get the sense Kurt may have picked this one as being somewhat autobiographical, with the plateau being analogous to the stage. "You see a lot up there, but don't be scared, who needs action when you've got words", i.e. you have nothing to fear onstage no matter the audience if your lyrics are powerful and real. "The plateau's clean no dirt to be seen, and the work it took was fun" Performing is a kick, at least it was for Kurt in the early days.
