The way people go out of their way to hate on the sequels is genuinely obsessive and weird, still wanted more OT content personally, really wanted Cloud City and Sullust back in Supremacy

I’ve played it, wasn’t a fan. The fact that you’re an outlaw but you have so many weird limitations of what you’re allowed to do is completely immersion breaking
@samtaylor776211 күн бұрын
It would have helped if they had built into the game the option to choose your race, gender, clothing, etc. There are plenty of games with that feature, like Skyrim and Baldur's Gate 3. There is a factor of relatability that's crucial if you want the game to be immersive. That's how escapism works in fantasy.

To be honest, this looks better than what I thought it would be. There are bits and pieces that are really tempting me to buy it, but there are some things that still suck: 1. Too much stealth is so annoying, especially when there aren't great mechanics for being stealthy. 2. I can't stand that they added a named protagonist to this game. The best open world RPGs are the ones where you can create the character you play as. 3. I HATE that you're stuck with that one blaster and all others are temporary. My God this is 2024. Every good RPG lets you have a variety of weapons and you can upgrade all of them. 4. Those space battles look really bad. 5. Five planets? That's it? And most of them look very similar.
@midknight4412 күн бұрын
I enjoyed it for what it was but, for me anyway, the story was too linear and way too short. Some of the mechanics are awful though. But it’s no where near as bad as being made out. I had fun with it.

One gun a nobody protagonist and looks like to much stealth not the star wars run and gun power fantasy If I want to be ill equipped there are plentiful survival games that do it better

Outlaws crashes on me after an hour or so every time I play it. I got sick of it so stopped and am waiting on those bug fixes. I also wish I had known it was almost entirely stealth-based. Most of the time, you do NOT have the option of going in guns blazing because you will die. The game suggests you can choose your play style, but they’ve chosen stealth for you. That’s fine, just advertise the game that way.

I said it before launch, I thought this game would flop as the main character was quite bland and uninteresting. I still think this was the main issue

Thanks for this take. This post is probably for Star Wars fans who are wondering if this game is for them despite the trolling of Ubisoft and the game in general. As a 50 something I grew up with the original films and here is my take. In my opinion this game has a lot to offer for Star Wars fans. I have played over 40 hours now and will take my time and play it to its conclusion. Whilst all the criticism is valid to varying degrees, I have had great fun despite all of the flaws. I have looked for the positives which I think are the graphics (other than the main character model and poor lighting in some areas), the exploration and secret areas, the authentic physical environmental design of exterior and interior locations . The sound/music is excellent. Many of the side quests and activities are interesting and most of the new characters and lore surrounding them is well presented. Well known characters, creatures and vehicles are lovingly recreated No SW game that I can remember includes so many of the different races. I can respect a review score anywhere within 5 to 8 out of 10 and I respect that some people will only play a few hours and decide its not for them. There are much better games to play and if Ubisoft's dishonest marketing and the very unpolished stealth, combat and NPC AI is going to bother you that much maybe don't play. The truth is though that this is the most ambitious attempt at a Star Wars game in modern times and there is only this and the recent Jedi games that give you that feeling of running around in the Star Wars. I am pleased I have ignored the online trolling.

I had planned on buying Outlaws at release. But I ended up holding off. Not because of the negative press, but because it's $70. I know, that is the new standard for games. Thing is, I'm patient. I have other games I bought and haven't played yet. So I will do those first and get Outlaws later when the price comes down.

Im gonna tell you something. I live in Poland. Here Outlaws cost 300 złotych (our money). Its 1 of 10 of standard Polish salary. In U.S its like 60 dolars. Its not even 1 of 40 of standard U.S salary. See, this game is too expensive for half of Europe now. We wait until Christmas sales. And imagine countries with worst economic situations. In Asia or poorer parts of Europe.

Not sure I agree with your interpretation of Ubi’s CEO comment. He is saying that they didn’t meet the expectations of their customers, not that the customer expectations are too high. It’s an admission of their own failure.
@CarterElkins14 күн бұрын
To be fair, it's the Internet's take more broadly, not specific to Elliott, but yes you're interpretation is correct. We know this because his answer was a call to start meeting those customer expectations. I see no way to view the CEO's comments in anything other than a positive light... hopefully they will be followed by actions. As Creative Assembly recently proved to strategy fans, it's not impossible.

The problem with outlaws is basiclly the same as concord The game is not bad and it is functional but just really mediocre with almost nothing new (gamplay wise) So for most people there is no reason to spend 70-130euros on the medioctiry of star wars outlaws when you could pick up space marines or Black myth wukong both much better games and cheaper

have really enjoyed Outlaws myself, but totally understand the critical feedback (at times middling gameplay, somewhat frustrating checkpoints, etc.), but for Star Wars fans, seeing the world building and creativity put into the environments is really a big sell for me! I think with Survivor and Fallen Order, the gameplay (both combat, traversal, and puzzling) is something I’d a expect someone who’s not a fan of Star Wars to enjoy, whereas Outlaws (minus the Star Wars elements) falls relatively flat compared to the many other open world games out there. Excited for what they’ll tweak in future updqtes

I absolutely loved Outlaws! Still havent finished the final mission, after 40+ hours and still so much to find and do! Is it a perfect, bug free game? No, but its such a fun Star Wars escape 😁
