Bro C.Liegh is once again going deep and delineating the myriad levels and 4 dimensionallity of that Black man living in amerikka during our time we know as Prince. So much to hear, take in and as we used to say, 'put it in your pipe and smoke it' Do that with Prince and of course with this priceless lecture/conversation

A major contributor to African American acceptance in the Gold Rush era were African American barbers. Many Blacks cut White men’s hair. Imagine an elected official getting their morning shave at a Barbershop near the State Capital from a Black barber, and the barber listening to all the conversations; it’s the best way to get the inside scoop of what’s happening. In fact the first Black mayor in California was a Barber named Duplex, he was elected mayor of Wheatland, Yuba County during the Civil War.

Thanks for sharing such interesting history! It' s a shame that a lot of our history has not been shared broadly. Are you a historian/writer? You have a lot of information to share. Thanks for watching!

@@theeddrickshow I was the president of the Yuba Historical Society in Marysville through the 90s and 00s. California has a strong African American history. Blacks were often highly regarded throughout the State. There’s mistaken belief that California’s attitude to Blacks was racist. Certainly more than now, but I believe that overall this state was the best place to live if you were Negro. It was the Chinese who felt the racism.

This sounds like a meaningful event... I've been a mixed black man living in the Silicon Valley since 1980. I was a Sr Engineer for over 3 decades, working for the biggest companies in the valley. In the 80's and 90's the Bay area was an amazing place full of diversity. Today it's a cesspool of privileged racist implants destroying our communities via gentrification. Driving around in Tesla's pretending they are better than everyone. We really appreciate your voice!! 🔥🔥🔥💯❤

Not to take the trauma personally... I agree so much with that. Many times those who caused the trauma were once victims, themselves, trying to survive and their behavior is LEARNED behavior. As with you before your awakening, many aren't aware that it's unhealthy. And there are some who are aware, but don't know how to go about healing the wounds and/or repairing the relationship with themselves. Wonderful interview! Thank you, again, for sharing your story.

Great to hear about this documentary. I had some exposure to the Buffalo Soldiers legacy at the museum on Ft. Huachuca Sierra Vista AZ. It's a very large exhibit, but at the time you couldn't visit unless you had security clearance to get on base. There's a very large statue of a Buffalo Soldier at the entrance to the base, where Geronimo was taken to. Would like to see a doc on why the museum remained restricted for so long.

The interview very timely for me as it was the anesthesiologist that put the brakes on a surgery-which allowed family members time to be at their loved one's side in the closing hours of her life. I plan to get his book.
