Amazing, how to put wingspar in a dehidral wing design like this bro
@kellyrigsbyКүн бұрын
I'm in the process of building this airplane, I think I got the dihedral wrong. Could you tell me, what is the angel of the dihedral or the height of the wing when measuring from a flat surface..thanks
@QromerКүн бұрын
This plane has a lot of dihedral -- it is set by the center wing joiners.

Nice video mate, I'm building up a Flik wing too with a Speedybee F405 mini. Have you had any issues with the Speedybee dropping out of voltage range when running the 2S battery? The min voltage requirement is 7V, so if you run the Lith ion batteries down to 3V a cell I'm guessing it wont run the flight controller? Interested to know what your thoughts are. I'd like to run 2S to keep the weight down but this a concern of mine. Thanks.

Drone Teacher here again, we have our plane close to complete, since we have several radios, we will use a Tx12, taranis lite- I will need to order a receiver, would you recommend with or without GPS?
@Qromer3 күн бұрын
GPS isn't required -- if you are doing FPV with any long range then I would say yes. I would do some simple test flights. Excited for you guys!

Nice little plane! I'm sure you know this but you can mod those servos to go nearly 360 degrees pretty easily with some 2K resistors. Search youtube for Andy RC's video "The Ultimate RC Plane Build".

Thanks! I will definitely check out that video.

Just purchased the Slow Stick download. Compliments on the entire package, the 3D models look great! Well thought out, finished all over with nice radii, very professional looking. I really appreciate the part/material links and detailed build videos too. It’s very nice to have all the info that is required. Even when you were talking with Ben about his 80% build you asked him about every single detail that someone would want to know. Just outstanding! Will have to get the plans for this plane as well. Such a great view from the cockpit. Thanks for sharing David!

Great Video, just 1 question you specify 7.5mm 400 shafts at 31inch, but 31inch is a 500 shaft according to your link on printable, could you please clarify?
@Qromer3 күн бұрын
Thanks Allen. These are standard arrows shafts. They are 31 inches long and have an outer diameter of 7.5mm. The link is on the printables page. I hope that clarified the question.
@Qromer3 күн бұрын
The 500mm is the length of the carbon used for the wings. 3mm or 1/8" Carbon fiber tube for Main wing leading edge and trailing edge

Great Video ! I am almost ready to maiden your slow stick design. How does the flight of this compare to the slow stick ? Flight time etc … thanks for sharing
@Qromer4 күн бұрын
Hi Mark, I was quite surprised at how long I was flying on the 2200mAh packs. I mostly cruise at half throttle and get 15 to 20 minutes. Flight times are similar for the Scout and the Slow Stick.

Obviously the fun of creating your own parts on the 3D printer is a benefit, but weight wise how are they compatible to wood? Continue to enjoy your videos and ideas. Thank you again.
@Qromer10 күн бұрын
Thanks Graybear, I used to make them in wood prior to the printer. I actually think it is comparable. It is way easier to work with than wood.
@Graybear7810 күн бұрын
@ That is interesting! If I may ask, what type of 3D printer do you use, and what is needed for a setup? I know very little about them. Thanks again.
@Qromer10 күн бұрын
I use the prusa MK3s printer, but there are a lot of really good printers out there right now. Most of them operate very similar to each other. There is a bit of a learning curve to using them as there is with designing the parts, but it is a very fun hobby and blends very well with RC planes.

Thanks for the offer for help. I personally have an eflite slow ultra stick-and the landing gear is not great so I am printing from your files the wheels and tires. I may want to reach out about electronics in the near future. We fly fpv DJI drones and also Rotor Riot racing drones using fat shark goggles. The electronics with Telementry and GPS is my weak link Thanks

Thank you for this series. I teach a high school drone and rc class, students get a certification for the curriculum and the 2nd semester starts next week so I was looking for a project they could build and fly. This will be a perfect fit for the class. We will all subscribe and like this video. We also have a Bambi pl1A 3d printer so it really ties it all together. Thanks again

I love your design, Qromer. It immediately reminds me of the WWI Airco DH.2 pusher biplane. As a kid, I really wanted to fly a DH.2, and the Ugly Cousin checks all the boxes.

Thanks Luke, I agree about the DH.2 -- I actually had that in mind when designing this.

@@Qromer Thank You! The 3S 2200 seems to be the workhorse of many RC aircraft, including most of mine.
@tauncfester302212 күн бұрын
Not really the equivalent of the GWS stock Slow Stick, your model is heavier and with your flat bottomed airfoil version, as the Slow Stick starts with a 1000 mAh 2S pack, roughly 13 .oz AUW and the stock 300 gearmotor, the Slow stick flys slow, hence it's name. This makes them a little harder to fly in windy conditions, but they're perfect for learning on on quiet wind days.
@Qromer12 күн бұрын
Correct, this is not equivalent to the GWS Slow Stick -- but the wing is NOT flat and is under cambered. I have flown the GWS Slow Sticks for years and love them. We were constantly beefing them up to be able to carry camera gear and FPV gear. The Slow Stick is an excellent learning platform.

Amazing. I'm almost finished with building of Slow stick, and I can tell that this will be the next one :) I still hope that you also will make additional STL files with 8mm diameter holes, because its easier to source 8mm carbon tubes instead of arrows with proper diameter. Cant wait to see FPV setup too :)
