Well done making this video Steve. Disasters need spoken about more. Thank you.

Thats a lot of a shiter. Last week I was doing some cals of a dosing pump, this meant I had the output of the doing pump outside the sump.I finished the cal, but before I had reinstalled the hose back into the sump I got distracted. Just before I went to bed I checked the sump and to my consternation had found I was dosing pH+ on the floor of the sump. Luckily my KH had not dropped a significant amount and the spill was contained in the sump.

Great video Steve, very good to be honest as this hobby has a lot of ups and downs. However many will learn from it including me!?

Thanks Matt almost make the pain worth it 🤣🤣🤣 almost 😉

Simple things can make a tank go sideways Steve, sucks but 1) You won the quiz 2) you won't have dosing containers above the sump level. Hope the tank makes a good recovery, good save with the fish.

Thanks Alex, was a tad stressful for a few days but I think I got really lucky and didn’t lose as much as I was expecting to.

Ohhfff that is brutal, but appreciate you sharing the experience. Hearing about these mishaps helps people become more aware of their own tank and might help avoid the potential issues of their own. Last week I did some coral feeding and turned off all my pumps by the mains...a long time later, fortunately, my heater alarm saved me from certain catastrophe.

It’s so easy to do! There are so many moving goals in keeping all this stuff alive I’m amazed we don’t make more mistakes. I’m glad to hear that you averted disaster.

Do you know how big that tank was and are they going to be generally releasing it.
@theeastcoastreefer3 күн бұрын
it was huge, 8ft x 3ft or 2.5ft or similar, dot a clue when its available, maybe its a custom order

Oh my days Steve! It's always the simplest of things that creates a disaster in a reef tank! 🤦🏻♂️ I would be crying if I'd lost that many corals especially sps but at least you didn't lose anything else & fish wise all ok 😅
@theeastcoastreefer3 күн бұрын
I've never paid much for the SPS that I had so my wallet wasnt hurting too bad but gutting to lose so much!
@DansReef3 күн бұрын
@@theeastcoastreeferyea I bet, my first two Sps Frags were £10 each but even if you times that by how many you lost I would still cry lol 😂 glad it's turned around tho. Was you planning on running a uv before the issue or was it only to clear up the bloom? 😊
@theeastcoastreefer2 күн бұрын
@@DansReef I was planning it before, I am about to move hours(hopefully) so there are a lot of things that have been on hold for a while.

STEVE! Do you have the apex pro? Can you just plug the salinity probe into the brain or do you need a module fxm or something…?
@theeastcoastreefer13 күн бұрын
Hi Daz, I have the Apex A2 (before the Pro version) but it appears to go in the 4 pin DIN connector in the bottom left corner on the A3 Pro
@jules254514 күн бұрын
How did you get on with that Amazon pH probe. Did the Apex like it? From what I have read the salinity probe has always been an issue, or rather keeping it reading correctly?
@theeastcoastreefer14 күн бұрын
I've not needed to install the pH probe yet, yeah apparently the salinity probes only last a year max, hence why I looked for a cheaper one

I have been watching your channel for round about 2 months now. Keep the good work up. I have a fish's and a coarl 's tank. It's a D&D 5ft tank with Redsea protection skimmer and is Run by the Redsea app. It been up and running for 1 year and 8 months now. I looking at doing my first bit of Fraging with a Lever coal it was one of the first coarl I got when I got the Tank up and running. Most of the suff I have got is from Mansfield Aquarius. They are a great shop. They help me out as well.

Thanks so much! Been thinking of getting a copperband for such a long time and almost did so at the weekend - unfortunately the ones in my LFS had just come in so were not yet eating. This vid will be a great help once I finally take the plunge! Any advice on choosing one from the store?
@theeastcoastreefer23 күн бұрын
That was how this one was, fresh in and not eating. Id say look for one that is inquisitive and out swimming, not hiding or showing antisocial traits. check it pushes its self forward for food the second it comes in.

Thanks for sharing, useful info. Would like to try a copperband one day but with a fairly aggressive coral beauty and a Marshall island wrasse that pretty much hogs any feeding time I wouldn’t want to risk it.

Another nice video Steve 👌🏼 such a nice fish, seems the more effort you put in at the beginning with regards to feeding the better chance of success your have, hope your one continues to do well ☺️

Thanks Dan, I was gutted because this copperband got in a fight with my sailfin and foxface and died the other day :-(
@DansReef23 күн бұрын
@ Arrrh no! 🥲 that's a real shame 😞 Must admit when I had my sailfin, silver spot tang and regal the sailfin was not kind to any new fish he was definitely the boss of the tank. Maybe try again when you move & get your bigger tank your probably have no issues then ☺️
