I am just curious if Edmonton fire rescue firemen and firewo.en know how to help people with low vision loss who are hearing impaired.What can adults do to protect themselves who are legally blind,blind with a hearing impairment in Edmonton?Are adults with these issues more apt to get hurt in an emergency situation?

There is no such thing as a bike friendly city as long as you keep bikes and cars on seperate grades. That is, make raised bike paths. There is no reason for a cyclist to be on the streets. They're idiots 90% of the time anyway.
@Xtank5
@Xtank5 3 жыл бұрын
Check out the channel Not Just Bikes. They have lots of videos showing Dutch bike infrastructure, which is world class. Separated bike lanes are safer and faster for everyone. With separated lanes, more people feel safer on their bikes, so more people bike, which means less cars, which means less congestion for cars and less cars to hit bikes. Its a positively reinforcing cycle.
@likwidflame
@likwidflame 3 жыл бұрын
@@Xtank5 I'm well aware of how the Dutch have set up a place for biking. In Edmonton that method will not work. Bikes need to be above or below grade.
@DoveWrestler
@DoveWrestler 3 жыл бұрын
@@likwidflame ok, I'll bite. Why must the lanes be at different grades in Edmonton specifically? And why at all? How would a lower grade even work? A curb down to the bike lane at outside edge?
@likwidflame
@likwidflame 3 жыл бұрын
@@DoveWrestler because Edmonton drastically lacks a multi level infrastructure for a burgeoning population, and adding above or below ground bike and delivery drone lanes would be a marker that Edmonton is future ready, not redundant as it is now. I also believe that Motorcycles should be given their own above grade lanes in specific areas to allow for rapid fuel efficient travel. I believe in what Edmonton could be if it asserted any level of control over its 'NIMBY-esque' populace that's shut down future ready projects for their own self gratification.
@DoveWrestler
@DoveWrestler 3 жыл бұрын
@@likwidflame Are you talking about a network of raised platforms criss-crossing all over the existing road network? I respect your vision, but a much more practical means of separation is a curb with bright delineators. It's been working great in Edmonton. That being said, there will always be a place for cyclists in standard traffic lanes at times. How else would you get to the bike lane?

Anirniq was my late mother's traditional name. The name Anirniq has two meanings in my dialect of Nuvummiut in Nunavik (Arctic Québec). Anirniq is that exhaled breath of life. It can't be seen except in cold weather but you know it's there. When Inuit had to translate "Holy Spirit" or "Holy Ghost", the translation came out as "Anirniq Ijjunaittuq" which can be phrased as "the exhaled Holy breath (of life)". Interestingly enough, it was sufficient to call my mother Anirniq, which we knew had two meaning.

Anirniq: breath of life. Oh, Breath of Life, breath life into us, your people once again - in Anirniq, in Edmonton, in Canada, in the nations. Forgive us. Heal us. Change us. Transform our hearts. Show us and empower us how to love one another. Bless and prosper the first peoples and all peoples of Anirniq! Come Holy Spirit! In our humble healing loving saving mighty Jesus name!

Plastic-based industrially-produced insulation is fine, but there are better alternatives. Plant Green Ash on the south side of your house now, they are medium-sized trees that are easy to grow and shape to fit any location, and the root system isn't as powerful as others like elm (which crack and lift sidewalks). They will shade your windows during summer, they lose their leaves early in autumn and leaf out late in spring to allow solar gain in autumn and spring. Plant evergreens on the north and west sides of your home to cut prevailing winds. These plants can be started now by seed collected locally and can cost nothing. They remove atmospheric carbon and sequester it for decades (or longer if the prunings are turned into charcoal which is added to a compost pile and then spread over your soil).

This video is eleven years old. Police hide upon side streets and fish for a living today. Police are not very intelligent and are just as smart as a trained dog. Everyone knows who a doctor is. Cops risks their lives for pay while smarter people know better. You have not much choice putting your life in danger. It just means you should aim to be smarter.
