Great video, saved me a lot of time. If this is on your list, don't screw around trying to save a few steps. Whether your compressor is upper or lower, remove the fan shroud. Ask me how I know.

watching this gave me the confidence to give it a go. Knowing it didn't involve freon, reassured me that it was within my skill level. Every garage wanted to replace the entire compressor (at a cost of $600~$650) it's not their money, so why would they care? In spite of me telling them it was a faulty clutch & eBay sells them for $45. I get the last laugh by saving $600~ish. thanks for uploading this video!

Perfect! Exactly what I wanted to know - thanks for sharing! Now I just need somebody to show me how to set a steel pipe in solid concrete in an old tire full. We had two when I was a kid but my maker dad also died when I was a kid so...I have no idea how he did it so that everything stays together and there is zero play in the hole the pole's set in. The wind never even swayed them. They'd just sit there - and that was back in Kansas. Which gets super windy, super storms and super hail - in case anybody doesn't know that. They were the handiest things. Two of us could just tip one a bit and roll them wherever we wanted them. They were super heavy but it didn't matter. They'd just roll along wherever we wanted them and when they were set there, they would not move. For us, we'd put them wherever we wanted to hang something heavy or set up a badminton net or whatever. It was super heavy with salvaged super thick walled 2 inch stainless steel pipe (or, at least, it wasn't rusty) about 7-8 feet tall, which I doubt I can source but I also don't need that sort of strength. I believe they used them with a chain hooked between them and a chain lift for engines and stuff but I don't need that kind of heft. What I need is for it to stay put in, say, 80 mph straightline winds, which any heavy pipe could do. We've had winds in excess of 70mph TWICE over the past 3 years. We've been getting some sort of crazy winds and down bursts for about 6 or 7 years...

How can i tell if it's the clutch thst needs replaced vs the entire compressor?
@JGD16
@JGD16 5 ай бұрын
If the clutch doesn’t engage, it’s probably the clutch if the clutch engages but the compressor doesn’t spin probably the compressor. If the clutch doesn’t engage, it doesn’t necessarily mean the clutch is bad. It could be a number of other things.

i did it by mounting the engine above & behind the axle, after rotating the transaxle 90°, so the input was horizontal. I then connected the two with a 1000rpm centrifugal clutch & #35 chain. it went over 25mph with a stock Predator 212.

A few pics, but I sold it, last year...youtube allowed photo uploads for discussions years ago, but not now :( Every part of the engine mount was originally on the mower, hanging the deck. IMO, JD just put it together wrong. I also dropped the front axle & stretched the wheelbase, all the way. & moved the hood mounts forward 6" & down 4". The grill was oem, but moved up 4" & the headlights were deleted.

Love the crashes. This is actually brilliant for landowners with trails. Keep chainsaw with you and have the power. I’ve got the 80v chainsaw but same idea. They also make a 6” hand chainsaw I keep in the Polaris.
