Great video, exactly what I needed as I was visually comparing stats and features between the Pro and Standard on their website. Thank you. Also going with standard I believe, for a travel pack that will contain mirrorless + 3 lenses, Macbook Air, magazine, hoodie, personal items, etc. Will also use it to store all camera gear in at home. Since you pointed out the top compartment is the same volume between the 2, standard should work for me, with the slimmer profile allowing easier under-seat placement on small regional jets as a bonus. Thanks again.

@jjkulick

As far as thickness, the compartment on the Standard fits two laptops stacked. I tried it with my MacBook and an Asus from years ago. Concerning corner to corner size, my MacBook measures just under 17" corner to corner closed and there is an inch of space (total) to spare. Hope this helps you.

Thank you, exactly what I was looking for. I have the ProTactic 450, which is great if I want to carry camera, drone etc, over a shorter distance, but for relaxed hikes of 10-15km where I want to take my camera with 2 lenses, binoculars, compact tripod and a bit to drink and eat just too big and heavy (with bottle holder about twice the weight of the 250 Pro). I think the better hip belt is a plus point for me in favour of the 250 Pro, as is the small compartment, as I can easily reach my mobile phone without having to carry it in my trouser pocket.

Wondering how large the "standard" is on the back compared to your average non-camera, tech backpack. The reason I ask is I am considering the Lowepro Truckee 250 BP, which measures 17.3 x 11.8 x 7.9" externally. I flipflopping between this and the Fastpack "standard", because it looks like it might be a little oversized. I like the idea of the extra space, but the Truckee is small enough to look like a regular, unassuming backpack and its size meets airline guidelines for a personal item (so you could still carry on a small suitcase). The Fastpack however, is superior in both design and features, so I was curious to know if you feel if it was very lightly packed when I'm boarding a plane, I might get away with calling it a personal item bag. Fastpack External: 21.3 x 12.4 x 7.9" Internal: 11.4 x 10 x 5.1" Top - 11.4 x 8.7 x 4.9" Camera Weight: 2.7 lb Truckee External: 17.3 x 11.8 x 7.9" Internal: 10.4 x 8.8 x 5.2" Top - 10 x 7.6 x 6" Camera Weight 1.5 lb

I would describe the standard as slightly larger than a reg. backpack. The standard is: 19 1/4 x 12 x 6" (ext.). As far as the looks, to me it passes as a reg. pack. One thing I notice is that even if it's packed lightly, the bottom isn't made to be flattened. So while you might flatten out the top compartment some, you will still be dealing with (about the bottom 1/3) being 6" front to back. While wearing the standard on my back, it does feel closer to a reg. pack than the pro for sure but again a little larger. I have an Osprey Daylite pack that has always passed easily as a personal bag, but this Fastpack might make you want to be sure on what the airline measurements are. Let me know if I can help you any further.
@andyb204
@andyb204 5 ай бұрын
I ended up getting the "standard" version of the Fastpack. I will asses this when it arrives. I chose it because it has the size, pockets, etc that I will need. I was using a Lowerpo Tahoe, which is great but as I usually carry my camera on a strap - the backpack became more general use than photography. That means where the camera is normally stowed ended up getting filled with things like rain jackets and shopping - and it just isn't large enough to cope. Then if I ended up somewhere where cameras aren't allowed I was stuck. So it might be a little large, maybe too large, but I can always return it and get something smaller if that proves to be the case.

Why did you stop making films for 3 years?
@jjkulick
@jjkulick 5 ай бұрын
In that time I committed 6 months to FEMA relief and we moved 3 times. On the front of those years, I had a fun short film on schedule; then there was the snowstorm at Tahoe that prevented that. However I still could have been making content. I guess I was looking for more of a purpose for doing so.

Great video! The reason for the two different models is that the "Pro" version is typically for a mirrorless or DSLR camera body with a battery grip attached thus requiring the extra width. I have used battery grips for many years and have purchased a few bags and had to return them because the bags were not big/wide enough to fit my cameras with battery grips. Thank you!

well its mostly my fault, I cut off the waist band when I got it because I didn't think I'd need it. Also tossed the chest strap. So the bag really isnt even at fault when it comes to me needing a new one. Just got back from maui and did a 12 mile hike through haleakala. I really wish I had waist support for that hike. I'm still sore. I'm super rough on my gear, basically throwing the bag around so I get my shot as soon as possible. The only thing that broke was the plastic safety clasp that stops the side compartment from fully opening. I've taken it to hawaii twice along with the grand canyon, zion and a few local treks. Such a great bag for storing wet sandy clothes away from camera stuff. I managed 5 days in maui with just this backpack and a carry on. With a massive gripped hasselblad x2d, and the 35-75 lens. Camera alone weighs 6 lbs. I may just get the regular again since I'm used to it. Maybe you could link the waist pads you like from amazon, and set up an affiliate code so you get a few pennies if someone buys it. cheers -WM @@jjkulick
@jjkulick

Those sound like some epic trips!! Subscribed. The padded hip belt on the Pro is a consideration, especially if you pack heavy. It's extra support, even more once I realized it sat best resting over the hips and not on them. Which, by consequence, raises the pack and load higher. Not sure if that's good or bad. The strap on the Standard seems more just to keep the bag from shifting and I'll have to test the slip-on pads. Thanks for the insight about affiliate codes btw. As you saw, it's also a matter of how much bag you can tolerate protruding out from behind you. Good point too about having the separate compartments for wet items. A lot of other camera packs aren't designed that way. I appreciate the commentary. @@WILMORENO

How is this a life hack?? you are using a specific nut cracker... That's more like, "this life hack uses a nut cracker" err... Life hacks are things that you can do without the use of special tools. Also, boiling them is just destroying all the precious enzymes.

So what exactly does boiling them first do, other than simply cooking the nut, so it's not raw/green? Does it make them easier to crack, or hold together better or something?
@vanceliles3871
@vanceliles3871 3 жыл бұрын
My experience that I've seen and still do with the small Native Pecans is to Boil the Pecans first. It doesn't hurt the meat unless the shell has a crack. Small Native Pecans has a very hard Shell. If you have them cracked by an establishment, it destroys the meat where you get pieces and not half a. Yes, I went that route. Not good for these types. Boil for about 10 minutes and it softens the Shell and I use a pair of handheld Nut Cracker. I snip ends and crack Vertically and Horizontally several times and you'll get Halves. Still looking for better ways than this but so far the BEST methods for these little guy's. Hope this helps. It has for me.
@vanceliles3871
@vanceliles3871 3 жыл бұрын
One more hint with the small Native Pecans, after boiling work with small batches. Once shell cools, it gets hard again. I just need to figure out how to tackle the membrane inside. That is just as hard to deal with just like the Shell. Work with small batches at a time. It works but still more time consuming vs others but the better Nut and flavor to me.

What enzymes?! lol enzymes are proteins and they aren’t “alive”, so you’d be denaturing them, not killing them. Which isn’t necessarily always bad nor does it mean less is gained from consumption if that makes sense. Also often times nuts contain enzyme inhibitors that can cause digestive issues when ingested…cooking them alleviates this.
