On an unrelated note, as I watch this I have an 18 pound cat asleep on my chest and chin.

The structures in the background look a lot like the shrines that disappear when you fast travel to them.

Erlang Shen seems to require the destruction of body parts and half HP before he can transition to the next stage. So some battles may make it difficult for him to change stages. Now I'm trying to force him to switch stages

I think I know why ErlangShen didn’t go phase 2 even though his interactions were working. I think he got flinched at the moment where he would’ve changed and it caused a glitch preventing him from going phase 2. It’s happened to me once before in this game with Kang Jin Star. She got flinched out of her phase 2 attack and just kept using phase 1 moves until I let her kill me because I didn’t want to skip her 2nd and 3rd phases.
