The organ is a 4 manual Casavant. This is the only recording that I'm aware of. Glad you enjoyed it!

This will be the second Lent season where I will play this fugue as a solemn postlude. I wondered whether I would feel weary of it, but it is a sheer pleasure to prepare it again. It is truly a well crafted piece.

Brenda, I just discovered your music today, and I'm absolutely gobsmacked! Your toccatas are ingenious and thrilling! Your ability to mask a theme and yet draw out a ton of material from it are on part with some of the great French masters. This toccata, in particular, reminds me very much of Duruflé's transcription of Tournemire's Victimæ Paschali. Phenomenal. I've ordered your "Again, I Say, Rejoice!" collection. I am thrilled to begin working on these. Brava!

Brenda, I fell in love with your work when accompanying a friend singing your arrangement of "Once to Every Man and Nation". I will attempt this composition as special music during Lent. Having compared your recording to others' recordings, I'm doubtful I'll be able to match your tempo, but am inspired nevertheless. Thank you for sharing your masterful composition and skill. All the best to you. Soli Deo Gloria

Although I find Portman`s arrangements to be consistently skillful and interesting, before I started this video I wondered whether I could listen to this tune yet another time. I'm glad I took the plunge. It is one more fine arrangement by this composer, and if I ever find myself in a church gig that emphasizes piano, I will purchase this score.

I have four carols to play this Christmas. Veni Emmanuel O Holy night Gaudete The Wexford Carol. The Wexford Carol is the one that sticks in my head the most. There's something about the Irish and music.

Brenda Portman's organ music is swiftly gaining in familiarity. Thomas M. Sheehan is Organist and Associate Director of Music at Washington National Cathedral in our country's Capitol. Tom has shared several of Brenda's works in his music-making for services at The Cathedral throughout the Pandemic, perhaps before, as well. Her music is accessible and speaks God's peace of love through her harmonies and rhythms.
