I'm setting up a shrimp tank now. It's done cycling, I added live plants, I have java moss on its way that will carpet the bottom...I think I'm getting close to ordering shrimp. My main concern is the driftwood, leaves, cones etc. darkening my tank. I have driftwood in my 15 gallon that's been in there for two months. Even with weekly 25% water changes, my water still has a brownish color to it. I soaked it for a month before adding it to my tank. My shrimp tank is small (5gal) and will only house a few shrimps at start. As they multiply, I'll transfer some to my larger tank or donate for credit at my local. Any recommendations for limiting the tannins prior to adding leaves/cones? I know that tannins are good, but I want to be able to see my shrimp!

I just use a small plastic tub with lid, I spray it whenever I remember that I am growing moss and it seems to be doing well. My start amount was kind of small so if this grows out a little I clump it up again and cut it to restart with a denser coverage

If anyone is curious in 2024 on how to treat planaria and other worms like japonica, no planaria still works perfectly, it’ll take around 1-2 weeks to fully get rid of worm organisms but it will work just give it time, dose as it says on the instructions on the packet and it’ll work. 👍🏽

I’ve got 2 one about the size of Indie and one half the size. Both in a 190 corner tank. They have the odd scuffle but in general tend to swim together and tolerate each other.. Am I just lucky 🤣

Hey Double P , I do love seeing a great fish and shrimp room . The only times I wish I could have another is whenever I see just how creative so many people are!!! I have a lot of great memories from the past fish rooms and I never got into breeding until I got a Mystery snail ,so the very 1st time bringing a bag of 30+ and even though I didn't do it for the money or really anything. I placed the eggs on a diy floating nest I made using some pieces of a pool noodle (Snail Pontoon) and a media bag I stretched out w/ a opening right in the center that was the only way off, oh and a couple of chop sticks to make a shade sail with a Outback Steakhouse black napkin 😮 I can't say anything other than I love Outbacks Wings and the $120 from 30 dime sized snails🤗 That's what got me into breeding 4 years ago and I still doing the Corys and Rainbows the odays !!!!
