Seeing as how Thesz was already a legend when Race was a rookie, I have no doubt he had a ton of respect for him. Mr. Race never came off as arrogant, just confident in himself... and in that left he was known to throw for real. But I highly doubt he was ever disrespectful, especially to a peer with seniority and renown. I spent my life first as a butcher's apprentice, then finished up in a chemical factory. I always had a lot of admiration for the old guard, and if you be cool, they'll teach you the tricks. Reckon it's the same in the ring.

Poor baby tried to expose the business because he was never really smart to the business. Never smartened his wife up either. He used to have her bring a gun to the matches because to "protect him".

This guy's name is Kevin Godbold. He was one of my best friends in High School in 1984, and maybe the best guitarist I've ever known. He wrote and recorded all of this music. I wish I could find him.

I used to watch the Wrights, Les Thatcher, Whitey Caldwell & others on many a Friday night at Chilhowee Park during the late 60’s. To say that the fans were emotionally invested in the matches would be an understatement. Ron Wright had this gimmick with his right boot. Brother Don would distract the referee & Ron would tap that right toe on the canvas, supposedly sliding a piece of metal into the toe & then kick his opponent in the head. After that it was lights out for that poor soul......this brought back a lot of good memories for me, thanks.

Ron and Jim Hess were classic with their back-and-forth. Jim was the typical Southern-style announcer who never gave the heels an even break and always talked up the babyfaces. It worked well. Ron Fuller took over and brought in Les Thatcher to announce with Les being more of a Gordon Solie-style announcer. Jim came back to announce for the outlaw promotion in Knoxville set up by Bob Roop, Ron Garvin and Ron Wright

Why's the radio host so passive-aggressive and borderline hostile? he's not a wrestling fan, knows it's fake but sounds annoyed that Mario is confirming all this for him despite them both being in broad agreement. Strange attitude on him. Wonderful upload tho.
