What a tremendous performance, something Munch could really pull off when he set his mind and soul to it. Oddly the only place that does not fully come off is the climax where at first Roger Voisin seems to want to pull it slower and then gets pulled up short on the long note. A rare disconnect when Munch and the BSO were really "on" as they are for this performance of a once-popular work that is now little played.

Laplupart des danseurs de ballets classiques accomplissent de grandes prouesses techniques...... Les gymnastes en font autant, par ex : Barychnikov. Ces danseurs peuvent même être grâcieux sans être ridicules. Mais peu d'entre eux donnent le frisson aux spectateurs. Or ce que vient chercher le public c'est l'émotion, être chamboulé.... À choisir, je préfère être émue plutôt qu'être éblouie. En regardant Rudolf NOUREEV danser, j'ai les 2 à la fois : une technique impeccable qui paraît aller de soi, il n'y a aucun effort apparent et je suis émue aux larmes 😭 ! Je peux vous assurer que tout s'oublie, mais pas l'émotion ressentie .... Question : Noureev et Barychnikov étaient (sont) concurrents. Honnêtement, brychnikov vous a déjà donné la chair de poule à vous ? .... - qd à la personnalité et le caractère de Noureev, la question n'est pas là....moi, je ne parle que du résultat de son travail qui me bouleverse à chaque fois.

uno dei peggiori Rigoletto di sempre anche quando imbroccherebbe deve sempre calcare ululare e sporcare il suono un peccato per la superba scotto. Qui è anche peggio perché scenicamente Gobbi è pessimo oltre a barcollare ridiccolmente e fare la faccia da matto e matto incazzato non riesce !

I remember some critics in the late 50s said that after his early, Russian themed pieces, he stole from many composers because he couldn’t come up with anything original again such as his early music. Nonsense of course.

Why are his buttocks and bulge on display but hers are not ? This is a clear case of Objectification and Sexual exploitation of Men I have reported it to KZbin. Why are ballet "lovers" in favour of predatory older woman exploiting younger men ? It is really creepy to see this old woman use and abuse this young foreigner / immigrant.

Для всех танцовщиков приходит время уйти со сцены. Но можно просто жить. Когда я смотрю на Рудольфа, мне становится грустно. Будто это цветок, который увял раньше времени.

The more one sees versions of Tito Gobbi's work, the more the subtleties become apparent. This rendition suggested the unconscious Christian connection between sexual and religious fervour, of which Puccini may, or may not, have been aware.
