If your goal is to minimize the gap underneath the. gate, you should always swing away from the pitch. In a lot of areas such as Long Island where we service, if the customer has a pool, the gate must swing out. Ultimately the swing of the gate is up to you, however if swinging into a pitch, you will need to make the gate shorter so that it can open without hitting the ground. I hope that helps!

@@JrMartin-t6x While you can hinge on that side, in this case it is better to hang the gate on the left because you have the support of the fence section (plus an additional line of PVC fence you can’t see in the video). This means that you have multiple posts supporting the weight of the gate. Against the house, there is only 1 solo post. You can add extra concrete to the post to support the door, however, unless a customer really wants it to swing that way, we always suggest using the more supported side. As far as gate sag goes, I recommend using our vinyl gate inserts on each corner. The inserts plus the diagonal brace will prevent sag.

@@hhova29 Thank you and good luck! So long as you can go 3 feet deep and put adequate cement around the post, you do not need any additional structure inside the posts. It will make otherwise simple repairs in the future (i.e. kids hit a baseball into the fence and chip 1 picket) a lot more difficult.
