The way she flinches, the distance they try to keep from each other, the shakiness when they finally do make contact. I love the blocking. It really helps communicate that these two have a complicated and intense history. Absolutely no hate to the australians, but these two really demonstrate how they feel about each other. They act as though they'd combust if they get too close to each other. There's a sense of danger, a sense of urgency and fear.

I should have known that you'd be here I should have known it all along This whole arrangement bears your stamp You're in each measure of that song How dare you try and claim me now? How dare you come invade my life? Oh, Christine, my Christine In that time when the world thought me dead My Christine, on that night just before you were wed Ah, Christine, you came and found where I hid Don't you deny that you did That long ago night That night Once there was a night beneath a moonless sky Too dark to see a thing, too dark to even try I stole to your side to tell you I must go I couldn't see your face but sensed you even so And I touched you And I felt you And I heard those ravishing refrains The music of the pulse The singing in your veins And I held you And I touched you And embraced you And I felt you And with every breath and every sigh I felt no longer scared I felt no longer shy At last our feelings bared Beneath a moonless sky And blind in the dark, as soul gazed into soul I looked into your heart and saw you pure and whole Cloaked under the night with nothing to suppress A woman and a man, no more and yet no less And I kissed you And caressed you And the world around us fell away We said things in the dark We never dared to say And I caught you And I kissed you And I took you And I begged you With a need too urgent to deny And nothing mattered then Except for you and I Again and then again Beneath a moonless sky And when it was done before the sun could rise Ashamed of what I was, afraid to see your eyes I stood while you slept and whispered a goodbye And slipped into the dark beneath a moonless sky And I loved you Yes, I loved you I'd have followed anywhere you led I woke to swear my love And found you gone instead And I loved you (How I loved you) And I left you (And I loved you) And I had to, both of us knew why We both knew why And yet I won't regret From now until I die The night I can't forget Beneath a moonless sky And now How can you talk of now? For us, there is no now

This will forever be the best version of this scene ❤. While the Australian (and following productions) is more lavish it has never sat right with me that for most of the song the Phantom just stands to the side and then hands her the earings. London's version is much more romantic....with nods to Music of the Night and Point of No Return in the movements and gestures.

Again, if the book Erik was accepted by Christine and they got together, Erik would never have left her. He would have been faithfully devoted to only her. He is faithfully devoted to only her and loves only Christine. This LND Phantom makes little to no sense to both the original Erik in the book or the version of Erik in the ALW musical. Oh well… it’s severely flawed but fun fluff at best.
@sunflower-xi5ct
@sunflower-xi5ct 25 күн бұрын
Makes perfect sense to me why he would chicken out and run, Eriks insecurity about his face and his belief that she could never possibly love him because of it has always been the wedge between him and Christine, along with his deeply seated feelings of being unworthy of her. After their night off passion that Erik would think that Christine would regret what they had done the next morning and hate him for it, or worse look at him with disgust or horror is completely believable. In his mind it’s better to run now and deal with the pain of leaving her rather than face the complete soul crushing agony of a second rejection by her and her hatred and disgust on top of it. Besides he is a fugitive on the run from the authorities, what kind of life could he offer her? Remember Erik had already let her go once before at the end of POTO because he loved her and believed she could have a better life with Raoul, I don’t see his view on that changing just because they made love. Their mistake is that they both should have talked about all this before jumping into bed together, but instead they let their passion take control and they slept together before addressing all the issues they were both still dealing with.

This was great. Ramin will always be top notch for me. The first time I heard Erik say to Meg "Beauty sometimes goes unseen, we can't all be like Christine" I'm like you freaking idiot. LOL I did like the Australian version with Meg. She was much more devastated cause in the end Christine was still her friend. I know many don't like LND because of how it fits in the timeline but I think it is great. I take it more as a standalone musical with the same characters rather than a continuation. Can we get another musical starring Ramin and Sierra? Thank you

That kinda bugged me too until I remembered that Erik in LND was written for Ramin (as he was the OG Phantom for LND) and one thing to note about Ramin’s portrayal of Erik is that he plays him as being on the Spectrum, he has said this in interviews before. And as someone who has some history with Autism, one thing I can tell you is that for people who have it, reading certain social cues can be difficult at times. So keeping in mind that Ramin’s Phantom is Autistic, I could see him maybe not realizing that what he said could be triggering for Meg until after it was already out of his mouth. And I agree that Love Never Dies should be viewed as its own musical without immediately comparing it to Phantom, one doesn’t have to have even seen Phantom to watch LND. I think viewing it more as an Alternate Universe instead of a set in stone sequel is best because I personally don’t think Webber intended for it to be a set in stone sequel. I don’t think he wanted to make LND because he wanted to make a ‘sequel’ I think he had this story in his mind for a long time and if anything I think LND was probably more the story Webber wanted to tell from the start, (he’s never made a secret about the fact he is a Phantom/Christine shipper through and through LOL) but with POTO he was tied down with the restraints that come with an adaption of a famous novel…he couldn’t deviate too much from it. But here he had the freedom to do whatever the hell he wanted love it or hate it 😆 And so in some ways I kinda view LND as more Webbers own personal retelling of a story that has since outgrown its source novel in more ways than one, and mostly because of Webber. And a giant YES to anything with Ramin and Sierra together, but they have to be playing romantic leads opposite each other LOL it would be a waste of their insane chemistry to cast them as like Brother or Sister or something 😆
@Justlov4

@BookRose-rk1rv that makes sense. I didn't know that about his portrayal or that it was written with that in mind which makes way more sense why he wouldn't realize that might not be the best thing to say when you are talking someone down.

Christine: So it was all an empty lie, One final lie to fool us all, To make your death a story's end, To put your life beyond recall. How dare you come and claim me now, invade my life, ensnare my voice Phantom: If you could know the pain l'd known, Then you would know I had no choice, My Christine Christine: Your Christine! I was yours one brief night long ago. Long ago, with a man that I no longer know. Phantom: Ah Christine! You came and found where I hid, Don't you deny that you did, That long ago night. Once there was a night, Beneath a moonless sky, Too dark to see a thing, Too dark to even try.Christine: I stole to your side, Tormented by my choice, I couldn't see your face, Yet trembled at your voice. And I touched you Phantom: And I felt you Both: And I heard those ravishing refrains Christine: The music of your pulse Phantom: The singing in your veins Christine: And I held you Phantom: And I touched you Christine: And embraced you Phantom: And I felt you Both: And with every breath and every sigh Christine: I felt no longer scared Phantom: I felt no longer shy Both: At last our feelings bared, Beneath a moonless sky Christine: And blind in the dark, As soul gazed into soul, I looked into your heart Christine: And I held you Phantom: And I touched you Christine: And embraced you Phantom: And I felt you Both: And with every breath and every sigh Christine: I felt no longer scared Phantom: I felt no longer shy Both: At last our feelings bared, Beneath a moonless sky Christine: And blind in the dark, As soul gazed into soul, I looked into your heart And saw you pure and whole Phantom: Cloaked under the night, with nothing to suppress. Phantom: And I caught you Christine: And I kissed you Phantom: And I took you Christine: And I begged you Both: With a need too urgent to deny, And nothing mattered then, except for you and I. Again and then again, Beneath a moonless sky. Phantom: And when it was done, Before the sun could rise, Ashamed of what I was, Afraid to see your eyes. I stood while you slept, And whispered a goodbye, And slipped into the dark, Beneath a moonless sky. Christine: And I loved you! Yes I loved you! I'd have followed anywhere you lead. I woke to swear my love, And found you gone instead. Phantom: And I loved you Christine: And I loved you Phantom: And I left you Christine: How I loved you Phantom: And I had to both of us knew why Christine: We both knew why Both: And yet I wont regret, From now until I die, The night I can't forget, Beneath a moonless sky.

A lot of Phantoms have started out as Raoul, including Ramin. I find the idea kinda funny that their is like this unspoken rule for young actors entering the world of Phantom that first you must ‘pay your dues’ as Raoul first, before you can be promoted to the role that you REALLY want which is the Phantom 😆

I love how when he first comes in and walks over to his ‘Christine Bot’ 😆 he looks at first like he’s going to strangle her with a rope but then we see it’s a necklace…I love that little detail as it just speaks to his mixed emotions of love and anger he feels at this point in time. He’s angry that he’s still completely obsessed with her, that ten years later he can’t get over her, him building a Christine Automaton speaks to his obsession, almost insanity at this point. And it’s like you can read his thoughts of ‘I wish I could get over you…why do I keep torturing myself like this?’ but then we see the jewel and realize that it’s a necklace, and then it’s like…their is the answer to the question…’I love you way too much to ever let you go’. I know the Christine Bot is a bit weird and creepy, but I actually kinda prefer it to the moving painting because of how much it speaks to Eriks utter OBSESSION with a capital O, the mans fixation with with this woman is still completely crazy to put mildly…and I LIKE that because I don’t feel Erik should ever even slightly seem normal, he should always remain the weird boy that he is 😆

I love how Ramin plays the Phantom not only because of his voice but he laughs menacingly on places other phantoms are just serious and it adds personality and weight to the character that is unique and elevates him on whole another level for me. Oh and of course the way he touches Christine on the neck all the time and guides even the direction of her gaze, again unique for him only.

Their level of chemistry with each other is extremely rare, Webber called it ‘unbearable’ at times 😆, and it’s why I believe, they were chosen for the 25th show. I’ve seen a lot of great Phantom/Christine acting pairs with great chemistry, but absolutely nothing comes close to the sort of magic Ramin and Sierra have when they act together, they are something special. These two are meant to be romantic leads on stage and I don’t know why the powers that be don’t take advantage of their chemistry and cast these two in stuff together more often, they are best friends and love working with each other so why not? I’ll tell you this, if Love Never Dies ever does make it to Broadway they’d better offer Ramin and Sierra the roles first, because if not they would anger a lot of people! It would be a dream to see them both play Erik/Christine opposite each other again.

He said never to tell Gustave the truth, but he doesn’t give a fig if Raoul knows.😆 In fact I think Erik was definitely looking for a reason to tell him, as Christine by promising to sing for him here and almost kissing him just showed him unintentionally that she still wanted him…thus motivating him to fight to get her back, and plus the prospect of having Gustave in his life even if the kid didn’t know he was really his father, just lit that fire under his behind even more.

Anybody else's heart swells at those two times Ramin holds on to that "And I..." just a little bit longer than the soundtrack version? Beautifully sung and more musically presented than in the movie. Movie version is darn terrible in comparison to Ramin and Sierra. They bring musicality, humanity, and emotion into this song that was desperately lacking in the movie version. Gosh I wish they filmed Ramin and Sierra in LND. Seems odd. They did for POTO. Sigh.

I wish we had gotten Ramin and Sierra for the proshot as well, but the timing of things just didn’t work out. The Original London Version admittedly had a lot of problems, they were pretty much rewriting it almost every week and Webber was sick during that time (I think he was in cancer treatment) and couldn’t be involved with the production like he wanted to be, and the sets and costumes didn’t live up to his vision. The Australian Version (Filmed Version) did improve on the set design and costumes and they streamlined the material a lot more…Webber favored that production, and every tour of LND’s now is visually based on it. And Sierra has said that they did want her and Ramin to come back for the Australian Version, but by that point time they had spent an entire year working on the Album alone and then another year on the show itself…by that point they were both exhausted and Sierra said she just wanted to get back home. It’s a shame because I honestly don’t think any other actor combo, no matter how good, is ever going to top Ramin and Sierra’s romantic chemistry on stage, those two just have that something special. I hope Love Never Dies will eventually make it to Broadway, as looking at clips of the latest International Tour I feel the show has improved a great deal since it’s Original London run and it has found it’s ‘grove’ so to speak. Their is absolutely no reason it shouldn’t have a Broadway run at this point, and if it does I would hope that the powers that be would offer Sierra and Ramin the parts first, they can turn them down but if it comes to Broadway I feel they deserve to be offered those parts first, and I think a lot of Phans would die to see them perform together as the Phantom/Christine again, even if for a limited time.

I have to say I wish they would have kept THIS blocking of this scene for the Australian Version and Newer versions of this show because I must say it’s played way hotter here LOL This is basically Erik throwing all of his seductive energy at Christine to try and convince her to sing, and I like how Ramin so smoothly comes up behind her like a cat, sings in her ear, pulls away whenever she reaches for him. It is very much a game of seduction between them, and he leaves her completely melting for him here…I feel some of that is lost in the updated versions I’ve seen. And it’s important that we see Christine’s resolve to resist him completely crumble here…and I still feel Ramin and Sierra brought that point across the best.

I just love how much fun Ramin is obviously having, he loves playing the Phantom and it shows LOL I also love how his confidence is just through the roof since he knows Gustave is his son and that he has Christine’s heart, he’s just enjoying making poor Raoul squirm and we the audience is in on it with Erik, which makes this scene work so well. 😆

I disagree, first off Ramin is NOT capable of not giving a part his absolute all…everything I’ve seen him in he’s giving it 100%. And just watch the finale of LND’s and watch him scream in agony when Christine dies in his arms and try and tell me he isn’t taking the roll seriously….because his reaction is the most gut twistingly REAL reaction of absolute grief I’ve yet seen by a Phantom Actor performing that scene. And secondly…while the London Version of Love Never Dies was definitely a ‘work in progress’ to put it mildly (the Australian Production really helped to ‘clean it up’ a lot) from all the interviews with him and Sierra where they talk about Love Never Dies, and Ramin has said on his Podcast that it was a fully year they were recording the Album before they even got it on stage, a full year of him and Sierra working their absolute tails off to learn the new material. Remember they were the original cast of a brand new musical…so yeah you bet your bones they were taking the material seriously! They wouldn’t have been chosen to headline Webbers brand new musical if they weren’t.

This whole song is a ridiculous, frankly gross dick wagging contest, but I can't help but love it? The counterpoint is fun, and Ramin makes it pretty silly, which fits the absurdity of it. It's a true "so bad its good" Edit: this performance is legit fun to watch as Ramin is clearly not taking it too seriously
