@@frandale8130 so Synd can make a clearly obvious prejudice statement, yet the only thing that shocked you was the swearing he received in response. So long as we all subscribe to polite society; stay on our P's and Q's a little bit of racism fine! Thank you Fran you complete fanny!

Under the title of"No Half Measures"?. Couldn't get it either! It's not only the Scottish Scene....they have a message for the world and can put it over excellently! And most important...a studio CD with their tracks,once played in the OB (Outside Broadcast live) cannot match the live performance.As you probably have spotted this too!! (eg the Ceilidh Spirit CD)

Yeah.....Marie Fielding...it reminds me of their ensemble by the name of TRIBUTE,also with Duncan Black and her brother Owen.Great stuff! Small band with great sound,great material and great arrangements. They are also able to play Irish in a superb way.,a way as no others of the SDB's.do. But the name of Marie Fielding stands for lots of participations in great dance bands. She is a real pillar of the Scottish Dance Scene.A real successor of Ron Kerr ,Ron Gonella and Charlie Cowie!!!!We all should hang on to her!!!

No reactions?? Cannot be true! Allie MacCuish and the Black Rose CB!!!! One of the forerunners,taking the Scottish Dance Band scene out of the doldrums around the Millennium. And his latest LIVE broadcast was an unbelievable.thrill.!!!NEVER surpassed by others! He breaks through BBC's (political a-musical)views and BBC only can admit,being the losers!!!!!!!! But,alas,they are NO good losers.(trying to ditch Take The Floor,the only programme left,the bastards) Allie....you have WON the battle!!!!!!!!! And have set your stamp on others in the scene!! Well done!!!!! Hope,we will hear a lot more of you,just YOU'll have the future!!!

Iain,...I could not read your comment.St went wrong in the connection?.Was keen to read yours....so..please,try again. But,I can make an addition. Allie MacCuish has meanwhile met some competitors,such as Tom Orr,Gordon Shand,Craig Paton and recently David Kennedy. Very happy to listen to their live broadcasts.And all these bands backed by Brian Cruickshank. It's the sources,they take it from,I reckon, and they all seem to have this material in common and also great similarity in their backing arrangements. Short....today's real live performers.Great!! Also Jennifer and Robbie did agree. I myself am a bit of a historian,grown up with the Edinburgh Tim Wright Band and the BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra.(the latter led by Dennis macConnel and conducted by Jack Leon/Ian Sutherland) I always placed great value on the trad material.And consequently I hate today's "Celtic Confectionaries.". But the top 5 mentioned above have won me over!!!. I.e.....traditional music plus GOOD composed and arranged modern stuff with a twist is another thing than the mentioned C.C.which has no substance .

I was at a concert last night at Livingston Accordian & Fiddle club in Whitburn where Marie and Duncan played. A joy to hear these exceptional musicians play some of my favourite tunes like Margarets Waltz,Ashokan Farewell, 4 string Polka and The Bluebell Polka
@alecmac10010 жыл бұрын
Lovely but why do they think they need a piano? You don't get pianos in the equivalent fiddle music of Scandinavia where the fiddles sound great on their own.

William Scott is the man for performing within a band,and...LIVE!!!.Otherwise he at times may show signs of boredom,so,Wullie,form your own band and make a debut with them on Take The Floor! And,...things 'll be allright!! Wonderful tune,you played here by Marie Fielding,(Miss Melanie Murphy)

+John Scott Maybe you want 2 other predictions? Both newcomers in the scene ....David Kennedy and Craig Paton.
@shandfan8 жыл бұрын
+John Scott Addition,if you permit.....the greatest SDB studio performer of the last decade is James Coutts.(and his band,2nd box Ian Cathcart with Linda Jordan-Harkes on fiddle) Absolutely tremendous!!! Also live,but does not stamp here a particular seal on these live performances.Quite contrary to Allie MacCuish,Tom Orr and Gordon Shand.Gordon Shand,like Iain MacPhail,playing equally well both studio and live. Later,the James Coutts Band continued without fiddle.I wonder,why! And...another oncoming band is Gary Sutherland,maybe related to Ian Sutherland of the New Sealand Dunedin Scottish Dance Band.(has made an old Waverley 45 vynil) We should keep up the Trad Style within the SDB's,instead of being conditioned to the Celtic Connections. The latter is NOT the real thing,has no substance and origin,provides only cut material,but is promoted by BBC.(how bloody else!!!) And...regarding the many "hidden"tunes,...back with them!!!! They are the best!!!!!! BBC's game should be stopped!!!!!
