This is my local line, I live a short walk away from Garth station! Can't stand the 197s, the seats are uncomfortable enough for the Chapman seats on the Sprinters to feel like luxury in comparison! TfW really should have stuck with the 170s, they were the best things that happened to the Maesteg line. Did you sample our rather rubbish "bus" system for the laughs as well? (StreetLites everywhere so I don't blame you if you didn't 😂)

33047 was retrofitted to a Euro 4/5 I can’t remember, or it did when it was first built.

33047,33077 and 33194 were the Euro 5 converts at Basildon,33178,33188 and 33192 were the Euro 3 converts at Basildon.

33047 was new in November 2001, as TN1047 later in 2005 renumbered to TN33047, then later either in 2012/13 transferred to first Essex,with the other Plaxton Presidents,then 2016 saw the Enviro 400’s transfer to First Essex,to replace the T,V and W reg presidents.Then in September 2018 we saw lots of Enviro 400’s stopped using the cooling fan.So it sounded better then,When it first came it always used to have a Cooling Fan,but not anymore it does not.Then in March 2020,along with 33188 and 33192 this bus was and now is withdrawn.

Considering these are xFEs, they sure can shift with the OM934 engine - it really suits the gearbox with peak power coming at just 1800 rpm! Shame Optare are having issues with the engine currently meaning only the Cummins ISB4.5 is offered, which isn't such a good fit! (They do work good with a 2100 though - if they still use them that is - but I bet a Cummins Solo with an xFE can still be quick solely because they're so light...)

Absolutely vile things, keeping that unfit-for-purpose engine from the hybrids and reprogramming it to force every last horsepower out of its 4 cylinders! I'm really surprised none of them have caught fire yet (as far as I know), imagine how hot it would get in a heatwave! I'd hate to see the MPG on this, an old 12-litre Mercedes O405 would probably be more efficient!

This was on the 93 today, it was slow on the hills and revved very high between gear changes. But it sounded great in my opinion and something a little different to ride on.

I'm in the Lakes right now, done some B5s and an E200 and also a disastrous ride on a 78 Tridentviro (10+ minutes late, full and standing and the traffic into Keswick was so bad that it was faster to walk! At least I got about a minute of thrash though).

I remember going on one of these last summer, it was quick off the line for an MMC and very smooth as well. It also seems that the interior noise issues have been fixed, as the creaking was really bad when I rode it at that time. I'm annoyed that ADL have standardised on Voith given how over-restricted they are out of the factory - it should be up to the driver to save fuel through driving techniques rather than have the computers control everything - short-shifting doesn't always guarantee lower fuel consumption!

Love these things! Rode one (13802?) on my trip to the Lakes last summer. They were so quick, despite their power-to-weight ratio they did well on the hills, and on flat ground they seemed to accelerate just as quick as your typical B9TL. Caught a new MMC on the 555 going back, which was smooth and quick (for a Stagecoach one at least) but very creaky. I also just have to say what a beautiful place the Lake District is!

Some of our E200s are quick like this, but because of Port Talbot maintenance, the DPFs don't get cleaned often making them mostly run in limp mode.

Why doesn’t that surprise me with Port Talbot. Mind, I do need to do a First Wales day at some point - yes it’s very much become E200 and Streetshite central now (welcome to my world over here) but few routes needed.

@@eswbusproductionsI think Bridgend has most of the StreetLites in my area and they do seem to care a lot more about their maintenance and services. I think the Versas have gone to PT, whereas the Solos have been scrambled all over the place. I think there's at least some in Bridgend, PT and Tycroes, dunno if there's any in Ravenhill. Some of the services around the area are pretty bad however - my local stops running before 6pm!
