The engine seems to be a little underpowered by modern standards, but with traffick levels then, it was probably more than adequate. I love the colour ❤

My uncle had one from new. I washed it weekly and was awarded a photography prize using it as the subject in the early 60's. Beautiful. Cars are now produced made with rubbish and looking like rubbish.

What a stunning car. Such a delightful car body, and not forgetting the quality of the chassis and mechanicals of Alvis. Most people nowadays hardly know of Alvis at all, which is a great shame. I prefer them to the contemporary Jaguars, Rovers, and even Royces. I know it is an anachronism nowadays, but it is no crazier in reality than any number of current bloated and ugly SUVs, and none of our modern cars will still be in working and useful condition in another seventy years in any case. The only way I can look at an Alvis these days - they are rare as hen teeth on the roads - is through videos such as this. Thank you for pleasure your videos bring me. Best wishes from George in Herefordshire.

When I look at low volume production cars like this, I wonder how they recovered the high cost of tooling to produce them.

A lovely car of the kind I would [in my dreams] really love to have. But not this one. How sad that the proper Alvis six cylinder engine has been replaced by that real bag of nails V8 from Rover/Buick. Some people have absolutely no taste. If I wanted a horror of an engine like that I would get a rusty scrapper of a Land Rover! Best wishes from George

George, that Rover bag of nails is a wonderful machine. You should try a good one, sometime. Technically magnificent, and with bags of extra performance capability should you want to tune it. The Alvis 6 I'm sure is also great, and will sound different and feel different.
@jkoysza15 ай бұрын
I second the sentiments of helloxyz. That motor is light, under stressed and reliable. Driving a light auto so equipped offers a gob of torque and the growl of American muscle. While the inline 6 is elegant, it offers quite a different, busy sound.

Traditionalist or not , this is lovely , way quicker than standard six .

Well that was quite unexpected; I chuckled at your very understated use of “may have reservations”, but obviously this car has been incredibly well loved and the owner did what they thought best for their own reasons. It’s great to see it’s still on the road and being used for what it was built for.

Late 1939. Pulling up to the aerodrome. My Hurricane already warmed up. Then the bell is rung. “Thames Estuary-angels 20” as I saunter over, buckle in and roar off to confront the Hun. Scrape off the remnants of her lipstick and prepare to defend the homeland.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any more....:-((

Sod off with your copy-and-pasted eco-propaganda posted on every classic car video. The internal combustion engine will live on because enthusiasts will continue to 'do investments in oil-burning cars'.
@vincentl.94696 ай бұрын
@@brianw289 you can buy specialised fuels for classic cars that are less polluting than forecourt stuff. check out Coryton Fuels in the UK. I doubt the EU will ban anything classic like Alvis or Rolls Royce . I might be a different story for more modern old cars ..have to see. They cant say for sure batteries are the way forward
