What can you say about the gas mileage is it economical?
@KIRBYCOMMERCIALSАй бұрын
it had a 2.5 ltr diesel engine and would probably get 28 miles to the gallon depending on how yuo drive it and the weight you were carrying

Luckely on the mainland I've also a GLS from '83 with automatic gearbox next too 4 "1510" which in fact is a facelift from on the isle called earlier Chrysler "Alpine". The 1510 is in fact a Solara with an hachback really.

@@KIRBYCOMMERCIALS Yep, and that doesn't make them any more reliable. I have owned Land Rovers / Range Rovers from new and they are all junk. On top of that their customer service is appalling. Never again.

Interesting car but not a very good sales pitch, it's mostly based on assumptions about the buyer. Most of your points are subjective, such as being "comfortable". What if I'm 7ft tall? And points such as "more than enough power for what you need". - How do you know what I need? Maybe I want to tow a horse box! Also, you say it's easy to fix? It may be simple but parts for a 40 year old car are not in mass production and not always easy to source, so perhaps not so easy after all!

My first car .... parents gave it to me when I left home in Scotland to move down south (to Hemel Hempstead) .... mine was a Y plate 1.6GL (dark metallic blue) so no velour, leccy windows or trip computer - but just sitting in front of that dashboard again for a few minutes on your video was fantastic. I did over 150000 miles in that car. Brilliant memories. Given all the stupid unfixable expensive little sensor/electronic issues in modern cars , I do think a basic car like this may actually be cheaper/easier to run these days 🤔 Either way - great nostalgia - thanks for posting 🤓

3:59 How times have changed.. Let me tell you a story about a 1971 Ford LTD Convertible hand me down 1st car and day it rained when the electrical system decided the wiper motors could take the day off. A little fishing line found in the trunk and with the help of a friend I had manual wipers... The more things change the more they stay the same....

Are they registered? Also if they are registered now since they haven’t been before would they get a 73 plate? It looks like the rear one is Japan spec looking at the plate size. Out of curiosity how much are/were they? Edit looked on Facebook and it looks they are registered on a 66 plate. Since they haven’t been registered before they could have been registered on a 73 plate I believe.
@KIRBYCOMMERCIALS7 ай бұрын
Hi the cars are all registered now and I did have a choice I could have registered them as new on the latest plate but long term it causes confusion as there was a face lift model out after these and when you call anywhere for parts or service they presume the cars are newer than they actually are which would cause a problem so the decision was made to put them on the age related plate which looks correct all 3 cars are homologated as European spec and comply to Euro 6 emission standards

My late father drove us as a family of 7 in the baby brother of the 10 - the Standard 8 - all the way to Naples and back in the early 60's . Other than a brake failure at the top of the Alps neccessitating an excursion into a storm ditch to stop and let them cool down and a broken rear leaf spring - fixed by a backstreet Italian mechanic with one from a Fiat 500 - the car did brilliantly.
