1) Turn on your TV. Start counting, restart counting when the scene changes. Do this a few times. Usually you will not count past 30. Also, zoom in and out, or pan sideways. 2) Post a short (10 second) script next to the camera, read off that, not from a paper on the desk. 3) Import the audio to Audacity. Amplify it so that it is audible but not clipping. Also, adjust treble and bass. And, 4) avoid smooth surfaces that reflect sound and light.
