One day, I hope to become an ornithologist. It's my dream to see them in the wild. Just being able to witness them would make me so happy!

If you are tuning in to see these rare parrots, do not waste your time. Other than a blurry, barely focused view from afar, through the fencing of the cage, you will not see these parrots. By that I mean that if you flipped through a magazine with photos of parrots, you would still not be able to identify these parrots, because this video did not show them with any clarity. The last 4 seconds of this video gives a glimpse of the parrots. So enjoy 6 minutes and 7 seconds of not seeing the parrots, and 4 seconds of sort of seeing the parrots.

The efforts worked since i live near the airport in Puerto Princesa City and every autumn i see a flock going around of about 45 Katala. They feed in the tree next to my apartment door. I see the Philippine Cockatoos 15 feet over my head by the dozen feeding on cotton tree flowers and young pods.

I live on Palawan and these Corella Cockatoos feed on trees in the yard of the apartment where I live. I hear them calling in the morning while making coffee as they fly past my room and land in nearby trees.

As someone who has bred parrots though admittedly not a species anywhere near as endangered as these the last thing I would do is invite strangers to film them when they were sitting on eggs or feeding chicks. I admire these people no end but even when I was breeding 20 years ago we had nest box cameras that negated the need for interference, why could that footage have been used instead of a camera crew ?

That's sad. When they get taken out their natural habitat. But people will forever want these as pets. I had my share of few parrots and cockatoos when I was young. Very intelligent animals, with feelings. One time some kid stepped on my female cockatoo and she passed and the very next day my male died. I knew he was sad. I know they have emotions to. Like every other animal. I remember when I was young. I used to go to this farm where they would sell all types of parrots and macaws. Last time I went, there hasn't been any. I thi k they truly are going extinct or are hard to find. Very expensive to. I'm glad you guys are keeping the cycle going. God bless your souls 🙏

I thought these birds were a mini macaw. They're a bit bigger than I thought. Wish I got to see some close up footage, though.

It is wonderful that you are breeding the Spix's Macaw to release in the wild. Did their numbers plummet due to the pet trade or loss of habitat? How can their environment be changed to keep the released birds as safe as possible? I think the birds should have more enrichment in their aviaries other than dead branches. The greenery is all on the outside.

In pakistan Alexandrine and ring neck even all parrot species are declining. When i was 12 years old ringneck was common bird in pakistan but now i have never seen these birds please launch a project for their reproduction in their natural habitat. In pakistan ring neck and Alexandrine parrots are kept as pet and breeding is achieved on large scale in breeding cages or forms. This is the only hope for the survival of these parrots . Ring neck and alexandrine parrots are present in some cool climate areas located in north side of pakistan k.p.k ' Kashmir and guilgit baltistan only.

Humans can clone sheep, and for all we know, even humans... yet when it comes to nearly extinct wild animals, science is like "you're on your own nature"... and we rely on good people like this guy to help keep them going. Also, all the people who love the movie Rio, that movie is pretty much why this bird is almost gone.
@renzoastar19772 жыл бұрын
Rio is not the reason the Spix Macaw is gone,the real reason is us humans killing the earth.
