250 knots isn’t cruising speed for a jet airliner

250 knots is nothing for a plane. they can fly double the speed. So to have a clear perspective, run the video at 2X. Only then you will have a clear idea of a plane flying at 500knots.

You can feel this physically. Next time you go for a swim, try to see the bottom while you swim and notice the difference when you're floating compared to when you're swimming close to the bottom.

Fun fact: The 104 is not the first 3-digit line - I used to ride the 609 to work, which went from the Miller Park & Ride, down Maple to Huron, and to the university hospital via CCTC
@carrotnose25896 ай бұрын
Do you know when that one shut down?
@AlexLowe6 ай бұрын
Not sure! I know at some point it was renumbered as route 60. There was also the #9 that did the same route from the Park & Ride, but ended at the Blake. (That's now line 34.) 609 was slightly more convenient to me, but it only saved me about 2 minutes so I'd catch whichever bus came next.

Go to an air show see the Thunderbirds or the Blue Angles. At one point a plane will do a "high speed pass" That's how fast you are going at some point with a good tailwind. I tracked one of my flights on FlightAware and discovered our ground speed was 702 MPH with a tailwind. And some were 464MPH with a headwind.
@youchris677 ай бұрын
Imagine how this looked to everyone on board the hijacked planes on 9/11. They were all flying over 550 MPH when they were crashed by the Al Qaeda terrorists.

I got the same feeling seeing the trees come up on the camera as when you go right at the top of a cloud and then “hit” it. To me the speeds look the same as here, super cool!

Follow up question: What plane would be the fastest at... let's say 100ft, 5,000ft, 10,000ft. Same as in the open end category? I don't think so but I can't seem to find it elsewhere...
@StormRaid41711 ай бұрын
It's even faster if you consider the true air speed when setting the cruise control to 250. You'll be really moving over 400.

Well if you’re afraid of heights, the only way to overcome that, is to fly in a plane. The ground looks so small.
