You mention on quite a few occasions prices down. Look, let’s stop the charade. The prices are down 20-35 % on interest rates that are between 5-8%. The negotiants have massively reduced their inventory from the chateau. You’re like Figeac is down 40%. Dude. It’s not !! The pricing over the last few years is just rediculous. And it’s not a wonder no one is buying. No one. ! 40 % down on 2022 is nonsense. It would be realistic if the price was = to 2000 prices. The futures market has been wrecked by folk that refuse to get that this is a different market and there are loads of wines in the $20-$40 market that drink very well. Paying $150-$250 / bottle is a total joke.

As an Australian, the "cheap" wine our country normally flogs to Europe, the US and the rest of the world is disgusting and not at all what we drink here (the same goes for beer, I've never had nor know anyone who's ever had a Foster's here). THIS is what we drink here. You'll find it in restaurants and at your mates' houses because its an absolute banger and very well priced. If you want a couple more (although a bit more expensive) try Tyrrell's semillon or chardonnay, Yangarra old vine grenache, and Cirillo grenache.

Have you tried the 2019 Pinot Noir from El Molino? Was kind of intrigued seeing a Pinot from Rutherford as that area is known for its Cabernet Sauvignon.

Trevor Durling and his team at BV are making excellent wines across all price points. I'm a wine club member for several wineries and this is the only 'Big' one within that group because they offer great value for money.

James Suckling of course! But before you besmirch his abilities as a critic by saying he scores too high or you're going to immediately drop the score 5 points or something, we actually fully agree with him here. This bottling is absolutely brilliant. We've been doing this for a VERY long time and are aware how Jim scores the wines. Some people actually align really well with his palate and love his recommendations. On this one he is correct.

Was able to get my hands on a 2017 of les Carmes Haut Brion for $129 here in Canada before the prices skyrocketed. Carmes and Pontet Canet are some of the best quality for the price on the left bank.
