make your own “aesthetic” and it will be your biggest mental and physical glow up

I’m so tired of feeling insecure and left out but the reason for that is social media, the internet. I’m so tired of it.

I agree with most of what you’re saying however for us mid or plus size girlies, we NEED to use apps, especially where I’m from because we don’t have many plus size friendly stores and the few we DO have are priced crazy because they’re a niche store. I shop online because the store don’t cater to my size mostly. And I’m not even morbidly obese. I’m just not skinny and STILL the stores choose to stock fewer plus sizes. I have no choice.

Tbh I love almost all the aesthetics out there. I used to feel so bad about it. Like "who am I? Why do I love kinda opposite/different things" etc. But now I don't care. I love so many things. I don't have just ONE style / aesthetic.

hey, I am Brazilian and I watching your videos to study english! (I think don't write so well sorry). This topic is so interesting, because here (in Latin America) we don't have access to most trends (clothes, bags, we don't have where to buy them) so if you have the clothes trends you are so rich or you buy in virtual fast fashion like Shein and need extremely consumed

What a great video! Perfectly encapsulates how I have been feeling recently. Does anyone else get bothered that almost every TikTok trend and videos are to do with your appearance? ‘Deer pretty”, “symmetrical face”, “am I a Barbie, bratz or American girl doll?”. Gosh, it’s just exhausting. Plus, so many people have become self conscious of their appearance from TikTok. I started to get into aesthetics a few years ago, and to be honest it’s really exhausting. Luckily I have not fallen victim to micro trends but I have still caught myself buying things that are ‘trendy’ but are not cool now.

i love Japanese literature because it's deep and light at the same time. highly recommend "all the lovers in the night" and "before the coffee gets cold", the first one is a bit deeper but i liked it more! also "everything i know about love" stays my favorite

Very interesting thoughts, I believe reflecting about this helps not only in our fashion choices but also in general lifestyle, to look deeper and enjoy what speaks to you as a person. Thanks for the video and cheers from Brazil 😊

I actually clicked because of the thumbnail, it looked nice, then got surprised but how pretty you were and stayed because of the message, you're so right! I've always been having low self-esteem since I was little, and now thanks to all trends and everything even more. I'm trying to love me, but it's hard so I get into the illusion of saying to myself: "maybe if I do this hairstyle/I buy these clothes/I do makeup (...or whatever) I will like me more". Sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. I didn't even know how to do proper make up, nobody taught me except the Internet.

thank you for your comment <3 it's a road with up and downs, and not linear. loving yourself and discovering yourself is such a hard thing to do so take it slow. it's okay to have bad days (and i'm sure you're beautiful in and out)

Honestly I agree, the real glowing up does not require materialistic things. It’s so toxic to think an object can change ur life, sure it can improve it in some ways but it has a limit. At the end of the day ur the one who makes the real change in ur life.

Even alternative styles or even subcultures that carry political and historical importance have been summarized as sexualization and mass culture, turning more of the same. What wasn't cool 3 years ago, like ballet flats or the 80s gothic look, suddenly became popular enough to appear in relevant magazines. It's robotic, not natural and these people wouldn't use it if tiktok hadn't said it was cool.

Same!!! I’m tweleve watching my little pony! Wear sparkly sequin t shirts, but I still study hard and do whatever. I try to be kind all the time. I’m so sick of the internet. However, there’s always the Gen Alpha kids who are smart, kind, ect. They just aren’t:t on the internet.

i feel like friendship is scary. ive never felt truly safe in one before and i start to think maybe its my issue? previous friendships led me to really sealing myself off to the people i meet now.
