I have had a listen, and to me, your core voice is lower, so I really think you are a natural baritone; I would not say a low baritone yet, but definitely a baritone; please keep in mind you still might be able to sing tenor high notes, because we can all expand our registers... for me, the tenor highest note required is a high C (C5), but I can sing higher than that, and this would still not change my voice type, in your case I think you are a baritone as I said before, but this would not be a limitation for your vocal register: your vocal resonance is great, and I was really happy to hear that, keep practising because you really have a nice voice and you could do so much with it, not only for singing but also for doing voices as you have done as well, I hope I have answered your question! @@CARLOORLANDI1 yes I understand that, what I’m asking is where is most of the repertoire sung, I.e. E3 to D4 etc… I know a lyric tenor isn’t constantly singing in the upper range

@@wandajames143 Understood; the typical repertoire for a lyric tenor would go from a D3 to an A4. There are obviously exceptions, and there will always be repertoire for lyric tenors that would go higher and lower, but most repertoire written for lyric tenors would be the one I mentioned. It's very simple, I'll explain below: The body does this automatically, but it is US who sometimes mess around with it; every time we speak, we are supporting our voices, and to make different sounds, we need to adjust this support accordingly; in singing, we learn to become conscious of this, so it's not a random action but rather a controlled one. Now, if you want to know how this support is produced, then it all happens thanks to the muscles around our abdominal area; when we inhale, these muscles expand, and when we exhale, they contract; this is where the support takes place, and in this place you will find a very thin muscle over which we have no conscious control whatsoever, it's called the diaphragm, we want this exhalation to be controlled, if we are singing piano, then the support is bigger because we need to let the air out very delicately and carefully; if it's a high note, then the support needs to be just enough to produce the note and maintain it but not too much to break the voice, this is something you learn while studying and practising with your own voice. Hi there, I find your comment very interesting as I also found this confusing for a while, so I will give you an answer based on what I studied and my own experience. Now, we are all human, and we could all be wrong! This is what I think about it: I understand the terms falsetto, head voice, chest voice, and mixed voice as vocal qualities very well defined and specific, so there is no place for confusion. What I understand for full voice is: mixed voice, but it aims to make a strong distinction with falsetto. You see, when a person says full voice, they really mean singing with the vocal folds fully vibrating, as in falsetto, only the tip of the vocal folds vibrates. Understanding the mix of voices in different singing styles is key. Every singer who has full control of their instrument and a consistent sound is likely singing in mixed voice. The difference lies in the mix itself. For opera, you'll often hear more chest voice; the sound is often covered, and the larynx position is lower, giving the impression of pure chest voice. However, it's rare to hear any singer hit high notes in pure chest voice as there's always some mixed voice present. I have never heard a pure chest voice in high notes from any singer. For popular singers, they use a completely different approach; the position of the larynx is different, and also the vocal quality which is more speech-like instead of both the sob and cry vocal qualities that are far more common in classical singing, and indeed the support system is different as you have mentioned, it does require less effort to sing in popular style, mainly because it does not require to project the sound that much, and this makes everything less complicated, but there is still some work to do of course. It's also important to mention that the head voice and falsetto might sound very similar but are different. Falsetto will always have a breathy quality, but the head voice lacks that quality. I understand there might be confusion, but the head voice is way fuller and richer in sound. The study of the human voice is very beautiful, and there are definitely thousands of ways to approach singing. However, if you are interested in these terminologies and understanding how the voice works to a deeper level, I recommend studying "Estill Voice", I did it myself, and it is wonderful! @@CARLOORLANDI1 Thank you for replying to me! This is exactly what I understand to be the "truth" as well, however, I have had a number of people disagree with me regularly online. There are many people who call head voice and falsetto the same. But, in classical lessons I have taken, they refer to head voice as "lighter chest voice" because it sounds like chest voice and you have to support it a lot as well, unlike falsetto. This makes more sense to me than calling any high note in opera "full chest voice" because it is not, nor does it feel that way.

I think in this case it might be because there is too much pressure, I have many tips for you to improve this and a few videos that might help, all on my channel, look for those about singing high notes and the passaggio, also about preparation before singing, covering the sound, etc. Please remember that developing your voice might take some time, but if you keep studying, you will eventually get there!!

I am a tenor, to be more specific, a lirico-leggero tenor, this in part, makes it easier and more natural for my voice to sing those high notes but only with the right technique, as I said, I was missing the technique and this made it impossible for me to sing any high notes, but it's important to know that not all tenors manage to sing those high notes, a tenor should be able to sing at least a High C (C5). In your case in can only be one of two things, assuming you are a tenor, you would either be missing the right technique and / or preparation for singing those High notes, or you are a different type of tenor, perhaps with a deeper voice, I think only time will say, as long as you keep studying! Hi there, My highest note ever was an A#5, and the lowest I could usually sing is a G2. I would say that I have never been in a position where I was requested to sing higher than a D5, and that was for Rigoletto's Possente amor mi chiama aria; and the lowest I think it was a C3, so I have never been taken to the extremes of my register yet. I must say though that the highest note that as a tenor you have to sing on a regular basis is an A#4, only a few pieces will require you to sing higher :)
