Aaron Spears lives in a dimension where time depends on him. It's that simple...and for anyone still calling him a chop god... Watch the second phase of the riff.

I was also in the crowd for this, and a HUGE Aaron fan for the since I heard him do this song 10 years ago, and he really did seem off or tired that night. But for anyone reading this that might be criticizing, keep in mind he was just in Nashville for the night while he played a stadium the next night for Ariana Grande, so the guy deff had bigger fish on his plate. While his playing was off that night, he was still incredibly loving, kind, informative, he took all of our questions and invited us to get chicken with him after. I'm still thankful that he came and to Forks Drum Shop for hosting an awesome intimate event like that.

Question: is his grip considered French grip because his palms are parallel to the floor? If so, why does he seem to be playing french grip in the groove sections and American or German in the fill sections? He's obv getting a perfect sound and he is playing flawlessly to the best of my ability to understand technique, but it seems like an odd grip choice. My understanding is that typically French grip trades wrist power for better finger control. When he needs backbeat power, he's using French, and when he's playing multiple bounce sections, he's playing American/German... I mean, maybe it's just because he can, and that's a fair answer, but I'm curious if there's a more in depth answer
