Great video Dave, I was able to install everything on my PC and it worked flawlessly. One little ick that I had is that I was having a hard time getting the mercenaries to work even after updating their class to 71 as called out in 12 years of forum posts lol I think I couldn't get them to work was because I had set the expansion configuration to 9 and it needed to be set to -1.

I've watched these videos for awhile now. While it has been enjoyable I've found them also frustrating. Frustrating in regards to how you've approached them. Examples, in AOW video "won't go killing AOW a million times" yet half your raid has the ring from him. Likewise in that video we saw a ton of Tunare gear on your characters. Fast forward to this video where you kill her afterwards and you had no idea about her mechanics, so I'm unsure how you farmed her for the gear. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that your usually forthcoming which is why it's frustrating because you don't always stick with what you say. When this series started you said "want to show more in depth guides of how to handle this content" Likewise I was enjoying the epics but then you got bored after doing 3 videos of those. These are a few of the things that I have turned me away. I'm sure I will continue to peek, but it has been a turn off. (there are many other examples but not worth going into)

Hey there, I appreciate your honesty. The reason my guys have all the gear that you see if that in order to save time on gearing up my characters, I play with a loot multiplier. When I first killled AoW, I played with a 10x loot multiplier, so instead of AoW dropping 3-4 items, he dropped 30 items. Same with Tunare. The video where I fight Tunare (this one) I had only fought her one other time, and she dropped close to 20 pieces of loot. So I don't always know the mechanics as well as I'd like. I try to make these videos like episodes of a TV show, where I set up specific scenarios that I think people would find interesting. In reality, farming loot for 72 characters at normal speed can be extremely tedious and I only have a handful of hours per week to play. I hope that clears things up and I appreciate this feedback!

@@DaveOfDavelandGaming Understandable of the tediousness of the gear grind and wouldn't expect ya to do it. I also think it's okay if you don't know the fights inside and out. I guess I was under the impression you try fights until you can do them and then would show us, wanting to avoid recording attempts and what not. Also "proving you can kill them" and then taking the gear. But that's what I would want and would not expect to pose that on someone else. (I also like when you post the videos of the failed attempts) Thanks for the quick reply and understanding I wasn't coming from a place of hate.

@@awoo616 I generally try to learn most fights, but the fights pre-PoP are mostly "tank-and-spanks" so they're more of a gear-check. I will be posting more fail attempts as time goes on because even with 72 characters, I get smoked sometimes. I haven't been on my server in the past couple of weeks due to being busy, but I'm hoping to finish my Velious videos soon and move on to Luclin. Luclin is a bit tougher, especially fights like Blob 2 and AHR in Vex Thal. And when I eventually get around to PoP, I can assure you there will be wipes galore as I seem to remember some pretty tough encounters with more advanced mechanics. I definitely appreciate your comments and it helps me make the channel better!

you mention waiting for her before summoning her. I have always known her to be perma rooted, she does not move. We used an ogre wall to keep the tank safe from knockback.

You're right, she is permarooted. I didn't realize this the first time I fought her on the server because I charged the raid at her. She is not a target that I am familiar with as I have never fought her on Live.

15 is max mana regen on items is cap until AAs at least. I don't remember if levels up it at all. I know heroic stats do but those don't really exist in "classic" EQ.

I'm finding more and more it's critical to get as close to +15 mana regen as possible on the Complete Heal clerics. My Vulak fight takes over 20 minutes and I have to switch the timing of the rotation based on different conditions.

I played classic EQ back when it came out in 1999~2000, and left it for other games just as Velious came out (2nd expansion). I came back in 2022 to play Project 1999, which is basically how it was when I left 20+ years earlier. Came back for the nostalgia and still loving every minute of it. But, I never saw this type of play. I'm not even sure what to make of this - you're essentially 'soloing' in Kael, with 72 'bots'. I mean no offense, but what is the point of this?

The way I look at it is I'm changing EQ from an MMO to a strategy game. The bots are actually 72 clients, which I have to program the scripts for. Scripts include buff routine, debuff priority, nuke priority, heal priority, skill use, burns, etc... I also have to determine who to gear first and why, since loot drops little by little. I played EQ from 1999 to roughly 2018 on and off with other players and decided to try something different.

@@on-two-wheels EQ Emulator has been around for a long time and I started playing on Project EQ in 2010, a public emulator server where boxing is very common. Most people box 6 characters on that server, but there is a few army-boxers of 30+ characters played by 1 person. I only met 2 or 3 other 72-boxers like myself. I'd guess there's less than 10 people in the world regularly playing 72 characters at the same time. There certainly isn't anyone else playing 72 creating content like me, but I'd love to hear what the few other 72 boxers are doing for fun or what interesting ways they make EQ a single player experience

Because WOW is an easy day on Everquest. Everquest and Runescape paved the way for WOW and WOW paved the way for theme park MMO's for the newer mainstream MMO's that were all tired of today. EQ ftw!

Believe it or not, with every MMO that I have played (and I have played a lot), I have never played WoW, and mostly because I was playing EQ. There is something about the nostalgia of EQ that has me keep going back to it. I can't seem to go a year since 1999 where I don't at least sign on for a few weeks to get "my fix" in. Even as I write this, I have my 72-box crew on the emulator, where these videos come from, and my 6-box crew on Live where I plan to record something eventually.

I would say the burden of proof is on you, why play WoW and not EQ ? The graphics of WoW seems like a cartoon style and you are rewarded for zero effort.

@@Huntamin77 I don't think you understand. WoW copied EQ and made it much easier and more cartoony. They actually spent money to make mainstream ads while EQ never did, they sold out completely. What you think of effort between WoW games is the same as what EQ people think of WoW. There's zero effort required in any WoW game as compared to EQ, and if you had played any Everquest you would realize that. It's much more rewarding to actually spend real effort to complete a quest that takes time than to have things handed to you by a cartoon with the stats beefed up for no reason.

The PC is an Alienware that I got a few years ago. 64 GB of RAM, SSD, and 24-core CPU really makes it possible. The overkill video card probably helps, but old EQ doesn't use a lot of GPU. The characters are level 60, no AAs as of yet. Will start AA grinding soon as I've hit a wall on Vulak, Vyemm, and Nevederia and am considering moving on to Luclin and returning to these guys later.

I got to 17:51 where you had to mess with your ip and from there it didnt work for me I would try and sign in to eq and it would say server not found

Check your eqhosts.ini to make sure the IP address matches your loginserver's IP address. Verify that your server IP (where I switched it) matches your IP address when you go to a Command Prompt and type ipconfig

Hey man, how much do you modify the induvidual .ini files for your bots/characters? Currently as i am leveling i get to play around with them a lot since theres new spells all the time, but theres a few parameters i am missing etc, but it kinda works out after all. Having a blast tbh. What i also wonder is how do you manage several groups? do you keep each group as a strong induvidual group or do you raid min/max it? Can buffers/healers buff/heal cross-group? I've been reading up on lazaruseq a lot. anyway, having a lot of fun. keep the vids coming.
