Lived in Chicago Lawn/West Lawn from 1970 to 1995. I saw it go from a safe and quiet neighborhood to an area where you were afraid to walk around at night. Lord knows what it is like now. I remember 69th St and all the Lithuanian bars,Holy Cross Hospital,Maria HS and all of 63rd st.The Nazis were on 71st and Rockwell and ironically that is a majority Black area now. The Nazis used to drive around in their Hitlermobile with the loudspeaker and spew their hate. Most sane people wanted them to STFU.

On a reflex, when this came up in my feed I immediately clicked on it. But with all due respect, it just doesn't hit the same. Joe Zekas had a way of making every luxury apartment he described sound like your new home. R.I.P. Joe. Your style is truly missed.

Bummer that these last 2 videos are not made in Joe's house style. Last month you did an Arkadia video that was unsped and with live voiceover if memory serves - would love to see you go back to that.

Chicago was and continues to be one of the most segregated cities in the country. The ultra poor were purposefully placed in areas like this and then forgotten. You can thank the former Mayor (you know which one) for this.

The school on your left on Marshall Blvd. was Carter H Harrison High School. I graduated from that school. The name has since been changed. The building offset on the right at the left curve of the road just before the high school is, or was John Spry Elementary School. I resided on Sacramento Ave between 23rd & 24th Streets.
