Why would you take the key fob out? Thats the purpose of the automatic lift. Keep the fob in your pocket walk next to the lift gate and it will open. This is used for when your hands are full of groceries or other items.

I have the 23 hybrid coming to me in the same package, test drove the 2.5 n/a version and loved all the tech but was turned off by the mpg, 25 on the highway seems very low, and the turbo gets 28 which doesn't make any sense!... So when the dealer said he has a hybrid coming I jumped at it.
