What an achievement! Have any cheats been developed for this ROM or do the existing Emerald cheats still work?

the biggest thing the legacy series has done for me is afforded me a way to share these older games that i see with rose tinted glasses with my wife who didnt grow up playing them like i did. every single change to improve QOL and enhance whats already there gives me a way to share something i love so much with someone i love so much. thank you dev team for that amazing gift!

ninety percent accuracy is fine and you're delusional if you think that it's bad. flamethrower is more safe, but blaze kick is for the true chads. real men use blaze kick and go for the crit like a champ, soy boys use fwametwowa because they don't wanna wet their wittle diapy wipeys.

Does he know there are other pokemon why would I use a water type when there are tons of better options where fire and grass it's hard to find one as good as the starter
@nicolaistuhlmuller87188 сағат бұрын
Why would you spend potential hours grinding up another water type when you can have a high level water starter as default? Grass and Fire aren't valuable types for a team, unlike water, so not only can you replace those with other alternatives too, but you can even leave them out completely. A water type is insanely good though, but often the ones you can get in a playthrough are massively underleveled, and you're handicapping yourself hard by taking one instead of just using the water starter.

Azelea town is frustratingly foul. F O U L. When you get to it you get access to Ilex forest, with around lvl 11-12 mon available. Great. Then you start the Snowpoke well sequence, and after you defeat a powerful Slowpoke and Houndour, there is a really awkward and slow phase of the game you're stuck in. Your rival with a lvl 15 Zubat, lvl 18 starter and lvl 16 Larvitar is now blocking the gate to Ilex, and there's also the Gym leader. What wild mon you grind on? Well route 33 has mostly lvl 9s and slowpoke well has lvl 5-7s. This is insane to me. Surely slowpoke well could be around lvl 11-12 like in Ilex forest, which you had access to before the well? The wild pokemon levels is wayyyy to low compared to trainer fights. This hack seems to really like to up the difficulty of fights, but doesnt always fix the random encounter levels. The hack prides itself of being a sort of fix to the original, but what always was an issue of low wild pokemon levels is even more pronounced in this hack. It's an unfortunate flaw in this hack

I think it depends on the play style of the person. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve turned into a completionist, so filling the Pokédex is a big part of what I do throughout the game. It's also in doing that, that I earn so much experience points. Grinding isn't a problem for me because it's part of my goal during the play-through. It is, after all, what the professor tasked us with.

For the friendship evolutions, when I was completing the Pokédex in Crystal, I just bred them and evolved the babies, who are already born with higher friendship. Also since they’re born at lvl 5, there’s a bunch a lvl ups to increase their friendship level easily available. I got all of the friendship evolutions reasonably quickly.

Quilava has workarounds to Whitney's Rollout, btw - namely, Dig from the National Park and Smokescreen to lower her accuracy. Also if you bother with the Game Corner you can potentially get Fire Blast...

I often consider Cyndaquil to be the best starter in GSC, but Totodile to be superior in HGSS - due to how massively different those two generations are from each other. GSC Cyndaquil shines because he's a mixed-offense attacker, and the Stat EXP system is hugely beneficial to this, allowing both Atk and Sp. Atk to increase - there's no specialisation in one or the other. Additionally, Typhlosion can get the special ThunderPunch and Fire Punch from Goldenrod Dept. Store, going off his higher Sp. Atk. GSC Totodile is let down by the lack of physical Waterfall and Ice Punch, and he doesn't get *as* much benefit from Stat EXP. HGSS Totodile is so much better, as he finally gets physical Waterfall, Ice Fang, and Crunch, along with being able to specialise in his higher Atk (if you bother with EV training). HGSS Cyndaquil is so much worse off, as EVs harm mixed-offense attackers (you can only increase stats to the overall 510 EV limit, no matter how many EVs are in each stat), Goldenrod no longer provides Fire Punch or ThunderPunch, those moves are now physical instead of special, and he can no longer easily counter Water-types (SolarBeam isn't reliable).
@nicolaistuhlmuller8718Күн бұрын
Ironically it's the other way round: In professional runs Feraligatr is better in gen 2, Typhlosion is better in gen 4. There are two main reasons. The first is Typhlosion's lack of actual fire moves in gen 2. It gets Flamethrower on level 60, which essentially means the move is generally unavailable except for Red unless you want to do a massive grind. Fire Blast is unaffordable until the very end too and grinding the game corner for an early Fire Blast takes longer than actually beating the game. Even Fire Punch is learned way too late as only Typhlosion gets it, leaving it with Flame Wheel until level 36. Thunderpunch is also only available at that level, leaving Quilava pretty helpless for the water route and the 5th badge that are in the level 30 area. Meanwhile Feraligatr gets Surf the moment you enter Ecruteak City, giving you a high power water move extremely early. With how much stronger Surf is, Feraligatr will outdamage Typhlosion for essentially the entire game up to Red, especially with the already mentioned stat exp system. The other main reason is the one hole in Typhlosion's fire/electric coverage: dragons. With the final gym and the champ being dragon trainers that often also use water moves, they are massive roadblocks. Roadblocks that Feraligatr doesn't have thanks to Ice Punch. The only holes in Feraligatr's coverage are other water types, but with its high atk it can muscle through with normal coverage. In the remakes Goldenrod was massively buffed and now sells Fire Blast and Hyper Beam, allowing Quilava to just straight up oneshot Whitney's Miltank from full. You also get a free choice specs at lake of rage, giving you truly absurd levels of power. Utilizing battle style switch and your hm users as fodder you can work around Hyper Beam's recharge turn and coupled with Choice Specs this finally gives you the raw power to oneshot dragons with Typhlosion, removing its only roadblocks.
