We started with an agency, not on this list, but are not at all happy with our “mentor” or whatever she is called. We also find their search platform really complicated. Is there an agency known for a great search platform that maybe allows you to use only that platform or is it normal to need to search 3 or 4 ways to find good deals for customers?

Yes the host helps, but you are running a service based business just like any other. So get into this with that mindset and you will succeed. I saw a video recommending Outside Agents as beginner-friendly, so I decided to sign up. However, I found it wasn’t as straightforward as expected. I initially chose the $26 plan, but discovered that creating a travel agent website required an additional fee. The basic website provided is generic, and customizing it for a specific niche costs $119. I upgraded to the $40 plan to get extra pages and specialize my services. I also learned to blog for free using Google. When I wanted to downgrade, I was told I would have to pay for the $40 plan again, despite it being a monthly subscription. I emailed Support for instructions on placing my account on hold, but their response lacked the necessary information. I had to be very stern to finally get the details via email. Promoting yourself is essential with Outside Agents. Despite having a mentor, they don’t provide direct customer support but link you to a platform with a free trial, after which you have to pay to receive customers. In order to access mentors and more information, you have to complete courses which have quizzes at the end. The $40 plan allows you access to a calendar to schedule an appointment with a mentor. Outside Agents will tell you that you’re not ready for the next step, despite having experience, if you don’t complete their videos, even if you’re a trained agent by a cruise line and provide your credentials. I found another travel agency that charges $200, which I initially hesitated to pay. However, they offer a customized landing page, send customers to you, and provide a mentor who offers specific guidance rather than general advice. As a travel agent trained by Carnival Cruise, I wanted to work independently, which is why I was looking for a host agency.
