Had a lot of fun on the stream. A few things i forgot, or never mentioned I guess. The story itself is an overcomplicated mess for what could have been a decent story with an interesting premise. It's a trap plenty of stories fall into, you can have a simple story that can still tie into a potential theme, and even twists that are shocking, if they were designed well to fit into a narrative. Otherwise, fun stream, but what a lame guest : P

Agreed. Her singing was awful. I’m beyond angry people think she sang better than Jodi. People want music nowadays to be belted out and loud. That’s not music. That’s noise. Jodi’s voice is heavenly and angelic and she put feeling into the song and her was pure longing and wanting to be loved. Halle’s sounded desperate like she was trying too hard and sounded like a rebellious teenager throwing a tantrum. It was loud and hurt my ears. I can’t understand why people cried at hers and not Jodi’s. I can’t believe Jodi agrees with Halle’s singing being better than her own too. Not to mention the unnecessary woke changes they made. Disney is only doing this to coddle gen z and their woke triggered shit. No wonder they are entitled out of control brats. Disney never should have cast a black actress either. I’m not racist or anything because my best friend is black, and don’t get me wrong I’m happy for them getting their own mermaid but even the black community is angry Ariel got black washed. It’s insulting to turn a traditional character into a different race than what they originally were. Disney never did this with the other movies so why now? And that stupid scuttle song omg ugggg the clips from Halle’s version ruined my childhood. Those of us who fell in love with the original cringe when the gen z fans claim THIS ONE is better. No it is not. Halle herself even said she shouldn’t have been cast. She felt it should have been a red head look alike. She only took the role for the fame and mocked the original online. She’s a brat. I have been bullied by gen z over this and called all sorts of names but I don’t care at this point. I’m 35 years old so I could care less what abunch of entitled teenagers say. Disney didn’t even allow anyone else black or white to audition so it was completely unfair! Amy Adams deserved that role. She was going to audition. The ONLY way they could make it up to us is if Jodi playing the original Ariel introduces herself to her new black sister and we find out what happened to the original Eric and it would be cool to see a live action melody all grown up and Morgana taking revenge. That would fix it. ❤

I personally would´ve casted Abigail Cowen. Yes she can´t sing but then cast an extra woman for the singing and then in the Editing put the song over the scene, that´s it. It happened all the time (both in animation AND live action) that ONE character has TWO actors, one for the singing/musical numbers and one for the normal speaking lines/physical embodiment. Also yes this is a musical but it´s not on stage (where you´d need one person for both acting and singing), it´s a movie, editing anbd morphing two people into one is much much easier than on stage. I don´t hate Halle Bailey. She is beautiful and from her interactions with fans I can see how sweet she is and that she actually had fun. But her acting is decent and she looks nothing like Ariel. Yes her singing is phenomenal but it felt more like singing for an audience (and proving that she was the right choice and sometimes over the top) and not singing like she´s the character

Thank you for this video. I know it's not the worst live action, but there are too many new pop culture ideas that made it awful for repeats. Her singing sure but not lively or upbringing. Her acting, definitely shallow and bland; just not caring but only getting her way on land. And as Ariel, she did do her best, but it's not THE Ariel. She just....doesn't bring that spark of being a curious kind hearted mermaid who cares for all beings.

Ever since Captain Marvel's movie Kevin seems to be slowly turning into George Lucas from the prequels era.

The finale made this show go from “good” for me to “okay.” I enjoyed watching it weekly for the performances and to see where it was going. Where it went and how in the end though really didn’t work for me and made the rest of the show feel very lacklustre looking back at it as a whole. Still glad I watched it, but walked away more dissatisfied than satisfied sadly. Great review!

Ariel's role is a role that's really heavy on acting if you want to make a live action version, especially silent acting as she is mute for the most part of the movie, it's not like voice acting where the voice actress just let the expressive animation do its job, it's live action, people are going to see the actual person's face and expressions and we expect the person to be expressive like the animated version. Ariel is a character I hold dear to my heart, and I'm against all race swap of established characters in general, but then they had the nerve to shove in "The message" as though the animated Ariel wasn't strong enough in her own way before they changed anything about her at all. I think the animated version didn't show Ariel fight Ursula really violently was because of a few reasons. First, it showed the audience that she isn't fighting for her freedom and happiness alone, her friends stepped in to help her, and that proved she had been a good friend to them and they're willing to help her and support her when they can. Second, Ariel is a princess, without showing her in an overly violent fight, you can show her as being demure and graceful, gentle, all of which are good qualities. In the animated version, I can feel Jodi's voice going through a range of different emotions as she was saying her lines, the sadness, the hope, the happiness, uncertainty, frustration, desperation, and even anger, but here with Halle I just feel nothing. When I put the animated version and the remake side by side, I could say that even without the fact that Ariel is my favorite Disney princess, I would still prefer the animated Ariel because she's just so lively and expressive and you know exactly how she's feeling and what she's thinking with her expressions alone. If you choose an actress who you have to compose a whole song about what she's thinking and her feelings when she's silent on the screen, you know that you messed up on the casting. Ariel's song sung to Eric wasn't supposed to be a siren song in the animated version, in the animated version, it was stated that Ariel's voice is more captivating than other mermaids' singing voice, with her voice being more captivating even for mermaids who were known for their captivating voices, you can see why Eric remembered the voice and fell in love with the voice, the effect of the song can be seen as an unfortunate side effect that Ariel never intended to place on Eric. And siren isn't the correct term either, as sirens are half women half songbird creatures in the Greek myth, not half human half fish like the mermaids.

Sure she can sing but she is not a Broadway Actress that can multitask at singing , dancing and acting I think the representation in present day film making industry simply treated as marketing strategy to attract audience publicity purpose or building a hype for specific demographic But when audience overpraised the diversity side , i don't think its looks people going to see a movie for the sake enjoying a story but overpraising an ideology and a marketing strategy Its like going to fancy Michelin establishment not for the sake of enjoying its food but treating it as a luxury status symbol to showcase prestige

The amount of people willing to bend themselves over backwards in order to act like Halle. Bailey is the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to this role, even though she’s absolutely not she never should’ve been cast in this role is amazing. I don’t care what people say she had no business doing this none.

She sang the song with her eyes Closed, then hundreds of other girls auditioned and they chose her. Only a complete idiot would believe they even had auditions. Unless they only held auditions for black girls and they chose the most average looking and relatable to girls selling oranges in the streets of Barbados or planting sugar cane in the plantations in Ghana or Sri Lanka. Not a bad movie. But enough with the lies.

Halle Bailey was the worst choice for Ariel. She can't act and the singing was just loud and self-aggrandizing. The most emotionless and cardboard performance of any Disney princess to date.

stop hating!! She was amazing. Her voice is the essence of Disney. The voice and this song IS the core of the show. It is the song that will live long after the movie is forgotten, you dodo.

To give Halle a bit of credit, I thought she did well in the collection room scene with Jonah. But yeah, with how much they market the fuck out of Part of Your World, you couldn’t have painted more of a “please just come to hear the singing” sign. Also, I genuinely don’t understand why Naomi as Jasmine is glossed over with the “finally! Someone that can sing AND ACT”

It’s a mermaid calm down😭 she does an amazing job as Ariel but they shouldn’t remake old classics they should make a new movie. Either way Halle Bailey is amazing❤️
