@@Intersectionrecordsstl Oh yeah. I'm missing Van Halen. Such a shame that so many years went on about fighting within the band and sickness. The last song is pretty cool. Definitely worth a listen! I like the era with Sammy Hagar but do think there are some filler on those albums.. This is totally worthy to been on Balance for example.

Robert wouldn’t stoop that low to sing for a mediocre 80s hair band….

@@valleyoforion1 You may have a point, EXCEPT for Two (2) Things: 1. It's NOT Led Zeppelin, so Robert is probably open to discussion; and (2) it depends on how much INPUT Robert has on Creativity, adding Content and Producer Name.

For those who says that Kevin is doing the same thing to Bruce as he did with Gary, not true. Gary is a very underrated guitar player. He can really shred but back in the late 80's, Gary wouldn't stop his partying ways while the rest of the band stopped doing that to get healthy but Gary wouldn't stop so Kevin had no choice but to fire him from the band. As with Bruce Hall goes, that is something I really don't agree with. Bruce has been cleared by his doctors to go back on tour but Kevin says that Bruce can't perform to the level fans expect. I don't think the fans would care if Bruce was sitting playing bass. I wouldn't care in the least! I just wish they would have done a farewell tour. Maybe invite back Neal Doughty who retired from touring last year, bring back Alan Gratzer and even maybe Gary's son. Go out with a bang instead of just ending it like they are.

Such a shame that "rock" doesn't get much media attention these days. New albums by Eric Clapton, Dream Theater, Jon Anderson, Michael Schenker, Judas Priest, Magnum, Deep Purple, Blue Öyster Cult, Black Country Communion.. So many. Hard to find new fans when it's never played anywhere. Good review!

Maybe it’s time they packed it in! You can only keep changing band members and recycling hit songs on tour for so long. Classic rock and legacy acts are guilty of staying together for too long just to keep whoring tour cash! 💰

Bruce's first real band was the one I helped to form in Champaign Illinois in 1970 called Feathertrain. We recruited Bruce who was still in high school and had to get his parent's permission to play with us, not to mention that he was underage at the clubs we performed at. I quit the band at the end of 1970 to concentrate on my pre law studies and was replaced by Gary Rithcrath, who we auditioned backstage in Peoria where he showed up with his Les Paul and no amplifier> So we couldn't really hear him but his hands were a blur. Gary left in late 1971 to join REO , which was the other popular group in Champaign. Both groups were booked by Irving Azoff who later became the manager of the Eagles and helped to promote REO nationally. Bruce then joined after the original bass player, Greg Philbin, left. I suspect, but don't know for a fact, that the earlier members may have had some type of revenue sharing arrangement so they weren't just being paid as sidemen, and that may have been a factor with Kevin, who holds most of the song writing copyrights, to go out on his own.

I've been an REO fan since a friend turned me on to them in the late '70s, and I've always loved Kevin's songs and for the most part his voice in the band. I got to see them back in those days before the ballads, and Kevin could hold a crowd like no other frontman: and you couple that with Gary's amazing guitar work, and you had a band that was a "must see" live act. The band, though, has not been the same since Alan went into retirement and then Kevin and Gary parted ways leaving Kevin as the primary musical voice in the band. Once Neal retired, I think the writing was on the wall as far as how much longer the band would carry on. This latest thing with Bruce not being allowed to come back is the final nail in the coffin, so-to-speak. All I can say, as a longtime fan is, if Kevin ever meant any of the lyrics he's written over the years, he should step forward and be a man with some sort of integrity. Again, as a fan, I do not claim to know what all has gone on behind the scenes over the years: but I do believe in artist integrity: and if he is anything like his lyrics portray, then now is the time to make any wrongs right. His ego should not be affected at all. Many of us longtime fans recognize his voice, as the voice of REO: and we love his songs; just like we love Gary's guitar, Neal's keyboards, Alan's drumming, and both Gregg and Bruce's bass playing. Not taking anything away from Dave and Bryan, who have spent the last 34 years keeping the music going: I respect those guys and love to hear them play as well. I am just speaking of the classic lineups from '76 thru '88. Dave and Bryan are as much of the REO family/history as anyone; just like Terry Lutrell and Mike Murphy. I just wish Kevin would, as the song goes, "drop that old disguise."

Or maybe it’s just time that they packed it in! There’s certainly no shame in it and the’ve had a great career. They are no spring chickens and legacy acts should go out with some dignity instead of rotating band members and recycling hit songs.
