Nice clip!! How do you book the Elim Beach camp sites?
@flat.out.living8 ай бұрын
You can just rock up and pay the grounds keeper to stay. You can call ahead if you know you’re dates and will be there during peak times.

Cool vid guys. I had laugh at the anticipation music at the beginning, of the episode. Crazy storm, tap your heels three time and say-"They is no place like home"🤣😂

Yeah, it was a pretty big one for us. We were definitely feeling a bit like after the tent went down. Probably even more after we had to clean everything though!

Hi guys, enjoying your travels revisiting for me some of my fave trips in the FJ. Also had starter motor issues after a deep plunge in Cape Melville NP. Did you guys consider any preventative steps ie breather extensions or sealing the starter? Have heard various others suggest this.
@flat.out.living9 ай бұрын
Thanks for following along! Nah, we didn't have any preventative steps for the starter. We had extended breathers on the diffs and transmission though. I've heard mixed reports from people putting breathers on their starters and still having water issues. We never had any dramas with water on the rest of the trip with a new starter, so hoping its just because it was a bit old!

Awesome video guys…tunnel creek was amazing and manning gorge Hoping we can get to both when we go on the gibb…safe travels guys 👍🏻 ps how long did you have to swim in tunnel creek for ? 🤗 scary stuff but it’s gotta be done 👍🏻
@flat.out.living9 ай бұрын
Manning gorge is probably a good half way point. Its hardly off the main road. Tunnel Creek was a bit out of the way, and we hadn't planned for it originally, hence why we ended up stressing about the fuel haha. Tunnel creek was awesome though! The crossing in tunnel creek is probably a 25m wade/swim through the water. Might depend which way you go though! Can't see much in there!

Nice. Manning and Bell were our favourites. Especially Manning (being the first there for the day). Didn't have the FJ in those days... maybe need to do another trip just to see how much more comfortable the FJ is on the corrugations! 🍻.... PS... how many kms did you travel with the fuel light on?
@flat.out.living9 ай бұрын
Yeah, Manning and bell were ours too! We were pretty lucky and had followed the grader most of the way, so it was all pretty smooth. It was about 30km with the fuel light on, but we were genuinely concerned at tunnel creek because we hadn’t had reception in 9 days and had no idea how many kms we had left!
@outdooraussie63559 ай бұрын
@@flat.out.living Yes, know that feeling!! Kind of takes the shine off the day when you're fixated on the fuel gauge/odometer!! 😂😂 Enjoy your travels. 👍

The scenery with the greenery and sporadic black burnt trees, It reminds me of Frasier Island just after the fires with the regrowth. How good is it, just cruising around in the Fj, looking at the epic scenery as it slowly passes by, So Jealous😂 . You guy just keep finding these unbelievable water holes. 🤩
@flat.out.living Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it was unreal! There were some places that are completely black on one side of the road, and green on the other. Blows the mind! For how disorganised we were in our planning, we were stoked for the camps and water holes!

Great video, guys, I'm glad I'm not the only one who had starter motor problems with the FJ up at the cape. The same thing happened to me also did a rear axle seal on my FJ all fixed now and I'm glad you guys kept going. Thanks for video
@flat.out.living Жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to drop a message about your experience! The crew we were with were all changing either starter motors or alternators. Axle seal would’ve sucked. Sounds like it’s all sorted now though!
