So I just found you and have been watching a bunch of your baby knit videos as I’m knitting things for my first granddaughter expected to be here in May. One thing I noticed that really stood out was this Liquorice sweater that you said was self drafted and it was green. Have you ever written up the pattern? I would LOVE to knit it.

OK, so I missed the poll, but I prefer the Kote Cardigan over the others. It is much more interesting than the other two, which are nice, but there is nothing about them that particularly stands out.

It is 11/30/24 as I write this, but if you are still thinking of writing up your baby sweater pattern I would be willing to test it for you. I would probably try to do a cardigan version. We are expecting our third grandson the first week of January and I am working quickly at some winter knits for him ( we are laughingly calling him Baby Z at the moment. Our other 2 grandsons, 5 1/2 and 3 next week love that my husband suggests we name their little brother after one of "PopPops" great uncles, Great Uncle Zoltan.) I have learned my lesson and will use either superwash or other washable yarns ( bamboo, linen, cotton/ wool blends) for our baby Z.

I really loved your presentation, However, I think your video should get more exposure and I guess I can help you with this. Can we discuss this further?

That La Bien Aimee yarn would look so cool as a shawl or faded blouse! I've had my local library give me scans of scientific journals when I was finishing my degree but couldn't take the journal from the library. I'd say just don't make copies and share them yourself. It's no different than your church friend lending you the Dalegarn books so you can get a pattern you like from them.

Yes - I’m looking at the birds of a feather shawl for the two super pink ones! I’m thinking it would be cool to combine them with some other stash yarns for the Flotti cardigan but that project seems like a huge commitment 😂

I LOVE seeing a knitting podcaster, who's knitting for her little one! I've been knitting for my four children for a decade (my oldest is 10yo) and I am legit jealous of their handknit collection. Little tip: There are some gorgeous acrylic / acrylic-mix yarns out there, that make children's items very easy to care for. If you'd rather knit with all natural yarns, cotton is an excellent choice, too. My children all went to daycare, I still have a 3yo in daycare, and I've never had any problems with their handknits not coming clean. I mainly use wool and cotton yarns. I once had the case that a white cotton tshirt got a stain on it, that I couldn't get rid of. I overdyed it when I re-dyed my jeans in the washing machine and it's now denim blue and she's still enjoying it. Feel free to follow me on instagram @diary.of.a.knitting.mom. I'd love to connect over there! I haven't been terribly active in the past months, but I'm hoping to change that this year. On another note: When it comes to mittens and hats for my family, I prefer untreated wool, because it repels moisture. But that's just me. :-) If it itches their foreheads, I line it with some soft fabric.

I love the garter ear flap hat pattern so much! I’ve made several and they’re so fun and cute and quick❤ Such a great pattern selection 😍 I’m currently making myself a cabled Enamorado sweater and a slip stitch cowl for my brother. .. and actively avoiding some hand quilting that’s staring at me from the corner😂

I'm currently debating making a flax sweater for my husband's best friend's daughter who also turns 1 this summer, but it will be a Christmas gift. But currently I'm working on a crochet project for one of our baby cousins who is turning 2. I'm using the Enchanted Woodland Amigurumi book by Erinna Lee to make her a flower fairy doll! Using worsted weight cotton yarn to make it big so she can have a longtime friend. :D

i knitted a sweater with boucle, hold single but with smaller needles than recommended. i think this makes the fabric look dense - yet not super messy. can only recommend <3

That’s a great idea. I just knit a project that held boucle with a stand of brushed alpaca silk (mohair would work too) and it made such a nice fabric - the brushed alpaca silk filled in all the little crannies of boucle to make a nice dense fabric!

I didn't really master the skill of knit-feeding until I had my third 🤣- My knitting really took off after I had my fourth baby. It's weird, because you'd expect to have less knitting time the more children you have. I think it's just because you get better at time management. My older children learned to leave my knittnig alone, that helped. While they are babies, you can knit quite a bit. It's once they are toddlers, that it becomes more difficult to do anything other than running after them while they are awake. I agree, little sweaters are the most convenient thing for babies. I never minded pulling anything over my babies' heads, and neither did my babies. Bonnets are super practical as well. Now that my kids are older (10yo, 8yo, 6yo, 3yo), they request what I knit for them. They grew up in wool, so they are pretty unbothered by it. I use mainly non-superwash wool in the cold season and plant fibers for the summertime. I have three girls, who love to wear their knit dresses and cute shirts. My kids went to pre-school in Germany, where wool garments are not unusual. Our providers were amazing with pre-washing stained garments. I have never had a garment ruined to the point, that i couldn't save it. I did overdye some stained garments and they're still in heavy use. I just found your podcast and love following you! When I was a young(er) mom, no other podacsters or real life friends were knitters. Many did sew, that was fun to follow, too. You can sew with wool fabric as well. I have made some outdoor items for my kiddos out of felted wool fabric - those were our favorites!

Very insightful thank you! I have family that all seems to be having babies and I've been playing it safe by only knitting them little blankets and hats, but I'll keep your ideas in mind for my own future kids. Your licorice sweater is lovely. Don't worry about the negative Nancy in the comments, she's just mad that she can't improvise for herself and doesn't know how to skip ahead. Keep making videos, I can only imagine how hard it must be to film while keeping an eye on the baby monitor. Much love and happy new year!

I need to finish my tulip sweater 😅 it’s been sitting in ufo land for almost a year now. I finished the body and one sleeve…but when I tried it on the sleeve was impossibly tight and I half frogged it but got so frustrated with the mohair that I haven’t picked it back up yet. It is such a lovely pattern and the sweater was beautiful. I just messed up my gauge/needle size/decreases on the arm
