I grew up on this song and many other classics.... family road trips, with Boomer Parents. That note rhythm/progression... and Bass guitar style was a defining characteristic of classic Rock N Roll... check out the Beach Boys, they use it A LOT it's WAY more about the Rhythm, and progression than the actual notes... It's comparable to the "Gallop" you hear in 80s/90s Metal, as far at's it's iconic presence.... AAA_AAA_AAA_AAA_ Punk has another but I've never heard it described in a single term... Next try him doing "Danny Boy" then his live version of "She's Alright (With Me)". Also give a listen to another of his great ballads, the live version of "Night".
