Not too many people are saying anything Good or Positive about this Catalog. Lionel keeps it up, they won't be in Business much longer. No one can afford this stuff unless they Mortgage their House.

I think the battery powered O scale sets make more sense than those odd scaled cheapy battery sets that Lionel has been putting their name on. K-line made battery powered O scale sets as the "Kids O" line. That way the cheaper battery powered sets would be compatible with the electric sets and they could use the same rolling stock. There is an early Lionel Star Wars connection. In late seventies Lionel featured R2-D2 as one of the toys on their Christmas car that year.

By the looks of the price's this might be the beginning of the end for lionel. They totally lost touch with their customer base.

Great see you again. Thanks for the shout out. That double diesel set is in really nice condition, great buy. Next show you go to you should add some footage from the show. I love that you point out all the small details on the items in you videos. Keep up the good work 👍🏼

This was also the first set I ever had in the 1970’s. The transformer was blue in mine, but the engine and dummy are the same that were in mine. I no longer have it and I wish I did.

I always like your videos. You are always reviewing MPC and more affordable engines and that is cool. I enjoy conventional running myself so the highest level I have currently is Lion Chief, no Legacy. Awesome Video!👍🙏🔥💪❤️🇺🇸

This was the very first Lionel I ever had. It was my dad's from when he was a kid. While the box was destroyed in a flood, everything else survived, and It still runs to this day!

Very nice! Conventional is great and the way to go. MPC put out some nice sets, in a number of price ranges. That is a good running set, for sure. An excellent video, as always.

I bought the A and B together from this set from a train show. I usually piece the rest of the set together through eBay. But this was my first warbonnet and I wanted passenger cars. So I bought some MPC era passenger cars to put behind it. You really would like a post war alco like the 2343 from the early 50s. If you ever go to a train show and get to hold it in your hands. You will want it. They are so heavy and very well built. I really enjoy your videos. Ken

My first train set was the North American Express Set in the mid 70's. UP U36B and large track layout. I believe it was a top of the line set that year. Started me on a lifetime love of trains!

While I like all the digital bells and whistles in today's 3-rail trains, there's a lot to love in good old, analog, conventionally-powered Lionel sets -- even from the (unfairly derided) MPC era! And yes, the price is right! Great video!

The 700e is the most detailed version but given the casting issues particularly with the 1937 version, you could argue the 773 was the best made version. I have two of the MPC era versions: the 783 and 785. The 783 matches the 773´s with the 1950´s version tender. The 785 is grey with actual spoked wheels which are truly beautiful. As these (along with the 784 Boston and Albany version) represent the last locomotives utilizing the original 700e castings, I feel they are undervalued and a great purchase for Lionel operators and collectors.

Excluding command control locomotives I’d agree the scale Hudson’s are the best loco they’ve made period the 700e, 763e, 773, and the 783

Great video!!! I have eight Lionel MPC 4-4-2 steamers and I love them all!!! They are really good pullers with their rubber traction tires and brand new, at that time, four wheel motors which were a big improvement over the super cheap plastic encased four wheel motors that were made by Lionel in the 1960's. These engines when working properly will pull 15 to 20 MPC cars with the fast angle wheels and needlepoint bearings with no trouble at all. They are also good locomotives for High Balling just like the older good type of Lionel Postwar steamers were like. Thank You so very much for sharing this and may you and your family have a Very Merry Chistmas!!!

Very nice! The assortment of the MPC boxcars is great and the Christmas Village is a cool set-up. I saw what looks like an American Flyer 596 water tower, which I've probably seen before in your videos and never took notice. It is a nice looking water tower and I think that it is a bit nicer than the big Lionel water tower. You can see mine, in most of my videos. BTW, I enjoyed your live stream with Mike. It was a very enjoyable Q&A session. An excellent video, as always.
