He's been my favorite character since I was 13!!! I watched it on TV with my little bro and fell in love, and now as a 34 year old, I also have yet to find another more complicated, BA, layered character than Kurama. Well done! And Agreeeeeed!!

Kurama is complex in a human way ,in a overpowered way and in a flawed way. He is a character that shows incredible wisdom ,calculated thinking , logical and beyond understanding and kind . He understands the natute of being human while simultaneously being a full time demon . Even since i first started watching Yu Yu Hakusho he was my favourite character for the many reasons we are all familiar with. The internal conflicts of morality ,kindesd and balancing fairness is a doficult path all characters share from Kurama to Yusuke ,Genkai ,Kuwaraba and even Hiei with the unfair hand life dealt him , has always been kind and caring behind a stone exterior. Kurama has the life of a cold demon fox that understands the complexities of fragile humans by becoming one and the way this charcter demenour and reasoning is presented ,makes him one of the best in the series . Even the creator intended at first to make Kurama a main character but he is clearly as main as it can get. All character development and backstory ,included the villains are presented in a engaging and meaningful way . The only character trully that is absolutely vile I'd say it's the elder Toguro while the younger Toguro ...i hated till i didnt. Choosing limbo to atone for his sins ..fitting but cruel to a fault . Sorry about the rant , really enjoyed this video and you wnet into good depth analysis.

Fun Fact: Around the time when the final stretch of the "Chapter Black" Arc was running in the manga, Togashi wrote a fun little bonus article where Botan 'interviews' the main cast about recent events. When she gets to Kurama, she finds him transformed into Youko, but continues with the interview regardless. We actually learn a few interesting bits of info from this: - Youko theorises that his recent 'cold-heartedness' (ie: the events involving Amanuma and Elder Toguro) may have something to do with their close proximity to the demon world portal. - As a side effect of using the Potion of Past Life, if Kurama's emotions reach a breaking point, there is a 50% chance of him reverting back to his original 'Youko' form involuntarily. This explains why he transformed so suddenly after watching Yusuke 'die'. However, every time this happens, the life force of 'Shuichi' is significantly drained. - When asked which form he prefers, he answers that "Right now, I prefer my original form. But when I'm Shuichi again, I'm sure I'll say that one is better." - Finally, when Botan asks if Kurama will continue to live in the Human World as Shuichi, Youko replies: "Hmm... Unless something unfortunate happens, it certainly seems that way."

Just finished the series this week. It's become one of my favorites. Kurama and Kuwabara are my favorite characters from the show. This is a great essay. Thanks for making it. Kurama reminds me a lot of one of my other favorite anime characters, Kenshin Himura, who goes through a very similar mental journey.

Kurama is probably my favorite character in all of shonen anime.

Watching this roughly 2 weeks before the YYH live action series airs and I don’t think I’ve felt someone on a spiritual level more than while watching this vid. I first watched this series when I was around 7 years old and it’s been my favorite all the way into my adulthood & I don’t think I could ever string together the words in any language available to me the way this video did on why Kuwabara is so important despite being weakest member of the team. My favorite member of team Urameshi was and still is Hiei because I unfortunately understand his struggles with connections and vulnerability so I also kinda didn’t give Kuwabara enough credit a lot. But now as an adult I can’t help but root for the big knucklehead and smile every time he succeeds because it almost feels like if he’s doing fine, I’ll eventually be ok even if I’m not right this moment. We need more people like him in the world and if there’s anything the live action needs to capture correctly, it’s Kuwabara’s empathy and lovable ride or die personality

Yeah, it’s been about that amount of time necessary for old interests reemerge. Or maybe it happens around october/novemeber every year, it seems to be the case. Haven’t had the time to actually rewatch the series, but have been binging in story and character analysis one more time. It is now almost 01AM and I was trying to remember your channel’s name - I remembered you being a nursing student, I searched for “yuyu hakusho nurse trainee” “yuyu hakusho nurse intern” and even “nurse apprentice “ to no results. But I knew I was subscribed, so, down we go through my subscriptions list, trying to find it. FOUND IT. But no new videos =(. Well, no problem, as long as you are ok! I hope you are doing fine, and the mediastinum and neck lesions properly diagnosed and treated, and nursing your days away! Your voice gives an extremely caring vibe, the kind that makes a person feel better just by hearing it and knowing that person is taking care of you right now! As an anecdote: My wife is a nurse. She is a very strong-willed person, specially with me (my fault most of the time), and also around her siblings. But I’m always so proud (and sort of relieved i confess) when I see her interacting with patients at work (i also work at the same hospital, but different sectors, most of time. im a pediatrician, shes a obstetrics nurse)- no matter the crap she has dealt or is dealing with that day, or how bad her mood is, she is always the sweet assuring and damn competent nurse version of herself. I still don't think that Kurama and Hiei had anything going. It was like a troll by Togashi. I've always pictured them as a duo since they're both cutthroat demons. Then there's the end when Togashi straight up makes a joke about it. I think Hiei's lover was Makuro. Hiei removing the cuffs from her arms says a lot (Not to mention how Hiei purposedully risked his life to save her life. Togashi really out did himself with YYH. If he completes HxH , it'll it'll be a masterpiece . He tends to leave the end of series up to to the reader.
