Went on a date with a girl I met online almost 2 years ago; finally asked her out to a concert a month ago, things were a bit off with me subconsciously because I wasn’t present. I got too comfortable with an online persona that I realized I was too “plugged in” and not “touching grass” I thought I was done living life and ready to settle down at 30 last year, boy I was wrong. I realized I have so much to live for. I looked back at the old me when I was a teen with confidence, an aloof careless attitude about myself and my interests. I had dreams and desires, and throughout my 20’s I suppressed it all up, not anymore! I’m finally reclaiming my life that I wanted, the me that I’ve always wanted to be

I mean technically water wouldn't make it feel better at all because the only reason the lye burned him is because he kissed that spot and the h20 in the spit reacts with lye to create chemical burn. If he were to run water it would exacerbate the chemical burn significantly and spread the lye.

Something that nobody ever seems to mention with this " trauma therapy" is the high likelihood of giving the receiving party of said therapy PTSD. I've luckily never experienced it but I know enough about it to confidently say that it can completely disintegrate somebody's psyche and they will actually be worse off than before. There's no room for appreciation of the beauty of life if you can't process a traumatic event that has shaped your every thought process since.

Eastern religions & philosophies came to this conclusion long ago "Desire is the root of all suffering" -the Buddah Doesn't mean you can't have or pursue nice things. But you have to fill your own cup in this life. Money, cars, women, luxury goods, gourmet food, etc. cannot fill that cup, has to be from within

Just saw this. You are mistaken. I know you might not like this.. Watch Life of Pi. Read the life of pi Wikipedia, at the bottom. The story of Richard Parker is an old maritime from Edgar Allen Poe. The initials R.P. poor R.P. had a bad deal in life. Remember those who were not as lucky as you. HIS NAME IS R.P. perhaps the humor is they didn't actually use the name Richard Parker.

Life isn’t about community. That leads to tribalism & socialism. If you’re not with us, then by definition you’re against us. That’s war b/w the Nazis, Mongols, Mao, Persian Empire, Stalin, Napoleon, Roman Empire etc Life’s purpose IS the reward heeding responsibilities to yourself, your spouse, kids, family, job, friends. Etc. Listen to Jordan Peterson. He mine as well be a prophet.

The warning and the movie in general glorifies Tyler's idealism, but it condemns it in certain ways, showing Tyler's hypocrisy, his radicalism leading to the death of Bob etc. It's easy to sympathize or love Tyler's idealism but for average people it's just fantasy for them, life isn't a movie.
@hre204412 күн бұрын
This warning does read more like self help/self improvement rhetoric. This is what a redpill/self improvement youtuber would say in a video. It's not that I disagree it's just that it's laid on thick, like as if most people don't already know you should stop excessive shopping and touching yourself...

I've got lots of long form too. Lots of short form. I just write a script and however long it takes, it takes. I think people appreciate the fact that the video is too the point as opposed to many 'youtubers' who drag on so that the video can reach a certain length for more revenue.
@Delos_Shoe14 күн бұрын
@bizarrebreakdowns For sure, it wasn't a knock on you. Your video is great, and I'm glad it was to the point. I just don't think it should be the main takeaway that it's shorter.

I highly recommend the novel to anyone who enjoys the film. It just hits different, even though it’s essentially the same story. Same with American Psycho, awesome book
@hre204416 күн бұрын
From another comment I seen on a video "fight club is deeply a criticism on how the counter culture can become a culture itself" I think that's true, and Chuck or Fincher took that into account when they wrote Tyler. There is hypocrisy in the way Tyler embraces liberation, individualism, escaping modernity and materialism but then creates an army of blind followers and he wears lavish clothes and has a perfect build etc. Tyler goes to an extreme and I guess creates something like horseshoe theory where he becomes what he hates.
