This is great! I didn't expect to watch all of a four-hour interview, let alone enjoy it so much. Thank you!

Joseph Staten will always be one of my personal heroes. His writing is so genius and extravagantly beautiful. His attention to metaphors and symbolism is par none. His imagination and his ideas are so cool. There's a reason why Halo went down after he stopped being the brainchild behind the series. He's the reason why we have a religious alien empire that's bound by a covenant worshiping ancient idols as gods. He's the reason why we have a Lovecraftian horror beyond nightmares. He's the reason why humans are fighting tooth and nail against total annihilation. He's the reason why we have an Arbiter who questions his faith. He's the reason why we have prophets of false faith they preach. He's the reason why we have an insane AI monitor from a millennia of isolation. He wrote it all baby. Oh that's more interesting than anything 343 has ever come up with. Which by the way is nothing but a love story between Chief and Cortana for three games now that they keep trying to redo because all 343 thinks Halo is being about humanizing the Chief and the UNSC. Halo is an epic sci-fi horror space opera. Halo is not about the UNSC and a fucking love story between Chief and Cortana.

I grew up with Darksiders games, and this series is like no other. The setting, the gameplay, the music - it all comes perfectly together in this series, and I love the games very dearly for that. It's very unlikely, but I will always have my fingers crossed for the final war of the Four Horsemen. p.s. Genesis came out an amazing title, it's very sad the game is so underappreciated p.p.s. also damn that Ari Marmell prequel novel is so good

Amazing talk. I don't know why but at times I got emotional just for the success of Billy with this game that is one of the most earnest games I've played. Animal Well is the type of game that makes me love this medium so much. Video games is an industry, but it's also expression, creativity, discovery and INTERACTIVITY. Thanks Billy and thanks Trent for the great interview!

Apparently Ive been working with Billy as a part of an outsource team, both for mobile fighting games AND level X, I wonder if thats through him or through his friend that invited him there. No offence to host, I barely listened for an hour so far, but you need to learn not to interrupt people you interview. So far your bits would have had same value if they were a comment after Billy finishes his thought, but interrupts stop him half way and then you guys switch to the next train of thought

I agree with Mr.Salim that it's interesting how different and similar games and cinema are. When it comes to movies the actors and the director are part of the selling point. Although with games people mostly pay attention to the gameplay and the studio that made the game not the names behind it. That's why I'm happy there's more interviews like this out there.

Yeah i think more auteurs are needed nowadays. People like Suda51 or Kojima. It's important for creators to have their personal touch in games, so people realize they aren't made in a vacuum. If someone becomes a bigger name, that adds more cache to their name which can lead to riskier, edgier games.

I know I’m late watching this now some 8 months later, but I recently started playing Starfield on PC and I have to say, I’m kind of blown away. I’m really loving this game and kicking myself for giving in to all the negative hype last year over some console war BS.

I had to stop this episode a third of the way in on my podcast app because it was driving me so insane how much Adam was talking over Meghna and explaining concepts to her as if she didn't already have a deep understanding of them based on her extensive and lauded experience in the industry. Why was I hearing more about Adam's opinions than Meghna's??
