Your Verbier itinerary videos where invalueable for my trip afew weeks ago. I feel i was able to maximise my trip because i familiarised myself with the resort to a high degree with your step by step narrations of doign the actual runs. Was abit financially tight this year but next time im in Verbier i will definitely be contacting you. Im a snowboarder but would like to get into skiing too. Glad to see you branching into alternative content too.

Thanks Marty for this described descent. Does such itineraries are having the same concept (marked, patroled, mapped,etc.) At all switzerland ski areas? Do you know if same in France?
@skicoachmarty-verbier9 ай бұрын
Hi David, thanks for your message, I spent some seasons in France and Italy and they do not go to the same level of attention as the Swiss, they avalanche control their itineraries and then open them. Their itineraries are within their resort boundary so your insurance should work etc but check first. Verbier's itineraries are a big part of our resort, we have a lot and they are all easily accessible by a lift, I think it's for this reason that ours get a lot of attention, not all Swiss resorts maintain and promote their itineraries to the same level. I hope this helps and enjoy your winter SCM
@davidst-arnaud14549 ай бұрын
@@skicoachmarty-verbier ok, that is good to know. Looks like Verbier has a notch of safety measure above the others. I guess the others more alike Western Canada ski resorts safety measures ( e.g. Lake Louise, Kicking Horse, Revelstoke, Fernie, ...)?have you ever been there? looking forward to get same level of wilderness/safety as Western Canada black diamond/double black diamond bowls/glades/chutes...but with Europe charm combined with super year of snow as you get now...
@skicoachmarty-verbier9 ай бұрын
I’ve skied lake Louise and Banff, delirium dive is on par with ours I would say, some of ours start quite high but they bump up the same. I often tell North American clients that our itineraries are like double blacks. We are having a good start to the winter, I needs to get colder but that looks to be coming next week. North America looks to be a bit bare but I’m looking on social media which is not always a true reflection of conditions

U need to at a good level to go here...I live in Switzerland I'm not a good skier but all my friends avoid verbier unless there pretty good. Much better places for leaner and intermediate over here.
@skicoachmarty-verbier9 ай бұрын
Hi Paul, yes it is true that it is a little harder for new skiers here but one develops quicker when challenged and clients definitely progress faster here. The flatter resorts of Switzerland, where it is easier to learn are predominately lower and unlike Verbier are not snow sure! Take care and enjoy your winter. Scm

If my skill level got to be good enough to ski that black run, I wouldn't do the high and off piste route. I'd stick to the run the Swiss resort personnel have marked down. The marked run maybe more pedestrian, but a skier has to consider the loss of insurance cover by going off the marked route should anything bad happen when they are up there. At my age [66] the rewards are not worth the risks, a decision every skier should consider before they go off piste, i.e. Michael Schumacher.

@Puzzoozoo Жыл бұрын
At my age, - 67 next season - I doubt I'll ever be going off piste when I go back to skiing no matter how skilled I manage to get. So I'll stick to marked runs for what time I have left till I'm gone, with luck I'll have about 10 or 15 years before I'm to old to go skiing.

@@skicoachmarty-verbier alright thanks a lot, ig I'll discover it in 7 months, this year I only did stuff above La Chaux, mostly the itineraries Also which slopes would you recommend to learn carving? I'm a bit new so I struggle with very steep slopes and tight radiuses when there are a lot of people and lower speeds. The best one I found is the Gentianes one but then there's a lot of flat, and the slopes below Combatseline but they get quite hard and I end up skidding a bit
