There are 4 stages in the CES process. If a candidate has the excellent cognitive and managerial skills and a ton of luck, a shorter period is possible. For that to happen, you must pass all 4 stages within 2 years. The stages are ladderized. If you fail in 1st stage, you cannot move on to the next and so forth and so on. Getting a slot for the 2nd stage alone may take a year because the queue is very long. Passing the 3rd stage requires excellent work performance, behavioral/management competence, and integrity. It may take more than a year or more if one does not have that level of excellence. Even in the 4th stage, one may be deferred from getting the CESE title based on panel board's recommendation. THat is why 6 years is the conservative duration.

The CES Eligibility process is for third level civil service eligibility (SG 25-30). This is the executive level in government. It consists of 4 critical stages which are focused on management knowledge, skills, and behaviors. On the other hand, the Foreign Service Examination is just a one day exam. As such, the CES tests are the most difficult tests in the country.

The letter from the CESB giving you the result of your passing the CES-WE is itself a certifying document. However, you may still request a separate certificate from the CESB.

If you are currently holding an SG 18 position and had more than 3 years of managerial experience in the private sector- you may qualify for CES-WE. CESB will assess your qualifications.
