I was always wondering why the NCWRC didn’t have a trout hatchery in the NW section of NC. They have to haul those trout a long way to stock the NW counties. Just from a logistics perspective it seems like it would make sense.

Couple years ago when you released at Harris Park a dude threw a cork into the white water as they were releasing them. Cracked me up, people love it
@canthelpit3267 күн бұрын
Noticed this was from 5 years ago. Fishing and habitat are no better today. Seems like jet skiers and wake boats now have a great location using money collected from people that fish - oh and the fishing is terrible now. Harris used to be one of the best lakes in southeast according to Bass and other magazines. Now it isn’t on anyone’s list of great of bass lakes.

Great place! I've started there under the "old Management" (Wake County Sherriff) and it never failed to disappoint. I'm a member of other ranges taken under the wing of N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission: all only got better. And having indoor (!) 100 meter rifle range: priceless. Thank you!

• Only artificial flies and lures having one single hook may be used.... so technically its kosher, but I agree, it's weird seeing someone use a spinning reel in the C & R areas.

any revenue taken in by this proposed legislation will never see it's way to enhance our recreational sports. It will be squandered in the general fund and just gives them more money to spend on needless projects.

Why won’t nc wildlife plant dove field in Hertford co on game land? There is plenty of space to do it.

Time to get to work on the sad fields on butner falls of neuse… tired of seeing failure after failure on the food plots out there.
@NCWildlifeResourcesCommission5 ай бұрын
Staff have been hard at work on Butner-Falls of Neuse Game Land planting 212.1 acres for dove fields. (76.9 acres at Brickhouse Road, 16.6 acres at Ellerbe Creek, 44.4 at Flat River, 6.1 at Hereford Road, 11.6 acres at Indian Trail, 29 acres at Olive Grove, 18.8 acres at Redmill and 8.7 acres at Redwood Road.) The crops at Butner-Falls had a very tough time this growing season. From the latter part of May until just before July 4th there was no significant precipitation. Coupled with extended extreme heat; the plantings really struggled. Not a complete failure (because we plant many different crops throughout the spring/early summer), but admittedly the fields are not as glamorous as some years in the past. With such a large acreage of Dove Fields in various locations at Butner-Falls Game Land, I would suggest you scout and look around beforehand and be flexible to find which area has the better crops and the most doves. There are some fields that are rather decent this year, but certainly not all of them. Scouting is recommended before dove season, due to each field having various amounts of success based on environmental conditions.

You mentioned inland waters being open but it doesn’t say this online. It states joint waters only. Can you clarify please?
@NCWildlifeResourcesCommission5 ай бұрын
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) approved a temporary amendment to the flounder rule at their business meeting on July 25th that was subsequently approved by the N.C. Rules Review Commission (RRC) on July 31st. Under this modification, the 2024 flounder season will be open in Inland Fishing Waters and in Joint Fishing Waters for hook and line fishing only on September 1st and 2nd and again on September 7th and 8th. The daily creel limit is one fish with a minimum size limit of 15-inches.
