@davebev5 - I used to own this very car in the mid-2000s. It's looking pretty smart in your video. I see it's SORN'd now (since 2018) - do you know what became of it?

Love the car mate, really clean ride. I’ve grown up with Cortina’s always in my life. I currently have 2x 73’ preface lifts 1 of which I’m currently doing a rebuild on (I’m trying to track down some 2 door panels and doors to covert during the rebuild). Quick question, what is the paint code for Pacific Blue? We had a colour similar here in Aus but is a little darker, I would love to paint mine this colour.

Hi Ray the GXL,s and the GT,s both 1600 and 2 ltr got the pinto all the others were fitted with the good old crossflow engine.

@@davebev5 cheers was the pinto a much better engine
@davebev54 жыл бұрын
@@raycroal It was a newer design at the time,but there is a lot of love out there for the crossflow and both could be tuned with great results.Both engines went on for many years after the demise of the mk111.

Thank you for putting this video on, it was great to see your lovely looking J reg Mk.3.I own 3 of the series 2 models, two made in 1974 and one made in 1975 and am restoring one of the 1974 cars on my channel, (it is a very rare one model wise, and was made by FoMoCo as one of their Promotional cars, (the only surviving one!), have owned it for 44 years, and when bought it only had 250 miles on the clock, so as you can tell I adore these cars, very impressed with yours, she gets a like from me and a share on the Facebook Ford cortina Mk,3, Owners Register page, as she deserves more than just 56 views, and three likes.

Do you know why Opel cars are rebadged into Vauxhall in the UK? Vauxhall used to make it's own cars in the 60's, began to use slightly changed Opel models in the 70's (Cavalier = Ascona B with Manta B front for example) and from the Kadett D (or Astra MK I) on they just copy Opel cars. And in Ireland Vauxhall is Opel again. I've always found this very annoying and never understood the marketing idea behind it.
@jaggass7 жыл бұрын
In the 1970's GM started merge the product lines of Vauxhall and Opel, largely in favor of Opel. By then Vauxhall's became restyled Opel's then badge engineered in the 80's- The last true Vauxhall was the Viva and the last Opel branded car sold in the UK was the Manta B. I have seen the odd RHD Opel Zafira and Astra in the UK but they are grey imports from Ireland, Cyprus etc.

Well, i googled it now and seems like you are right, it looks like the original position. Never seen it like that on any car before, usually they are in the grille or behind the bumper or similar
