My stove and clothes drier both have the 240v plug… does that mean “technically “ that if I were to get a second drier plug for the basement, that would be considered a potential suite and therefore, further permits??
@PriorityBuilders4 күн бұрын
You would need to go through the permit process with the city to make sure it meets all the requirements.
@wj00675 күн бұрын
What if you don't have a stove? I've never heard an issue with having a Fridge and Sink in the basement... What if all that is used it a portable induction cooktop? I didn't bother metioning a full bath, because many basements have them.
@PriorityBuilders4 күн бұрын
There are many factors depending on exactly whats happening with your specific basement and set up. So I would contact the city to go through the permit process if you wanted to make it a legal suite.

This is why most basements have dropped ceilings or low ceiling cannot cut those I've seen worse than that. I had to fix one for a friend. They literally cut a 4-in square into the floor joist on the second floor so they can get plumbing in and the floor was collapsing and to Jack that sinking joist up. We had the load point from the top floor all the way to the bottom floor all the way to the basement to jack it up. So when we jack it up it didn't put pressure on the bottom floor. We got it up a little bit sister'd in some wood but still was sagging

what about the ones with holes drilled through for the wires ? is that alright or also not good ..
@PriorityBuilders3 ай бұрын
There are a ton of issues with where they drilled through or drilled out the floor joists. Definitely not reputable contractors.
@davidj45293 ай бұрын
Depending on the size joist (2x8… 2x10.. etc) there is a max size hole you are allowed to make, typically no larger than 1/3rd the joist width. It also cant be in the bottom 2” or top 2” of the joist, and should not be located in the middle 1/3 of the length. So if its 18’ long, you can make them in the 0-6’ section, or 12’-18’ section. Hope this sheds some insight.

Why would you want sound proofing in a basement what kind of weird sh they doing

Depends on how your fixing it if you just gooing to smear some stuff over it yeah your right but there’s also crack injecting with epoxy that will hold the same regardless of it’s done on the inside or outside I do it in holding tanks quite a bit
@PriorityBuilders4 ай бұрын
You can go that way but it’s not a 100% guarantee that the epoxy will hold

The right thing to do is provide our clients with options during a renovation, which is what we did. I’m not too sure about the laziness in that

@@marcsnow1888care to share what you would do if there was no door closer to the other one available secondhand? Or why a secondhand door that may not be in great condition is the way to go on a full basement remodel?
@marcsnow18884 ай бұрын
@PriorityBuilders I have a door painting business and we paint thousands of doors 🚪 that door is very popular in North America, and you can find it easily if you do a little research . If it was my reno, then I would have put the time as to me it's not a good look .

Both definitely have their pros and cons!!
@micear84244 ай бұрын
A Central vacuum will beat any portable vacuum on air quality so long as the central vacs exhaust is vented outdoors. It doesn't matter what style portable vacuum you purchase ( water filtration, hepa filter or bag etc) they all leak some dust where as a vented central vac eliminated 100% of the dust from the home.
@PriorityBuilders4 ай бұрын
@@micear8424 Also a fair point, choosing between the two can also depend on the size of the home, if it’s a smaller home then central may not be ideal.
