If I can get mine to run as good as that I'll be very happy, brilliant work.

Nice car, was the Australian version slightly different to the UK version? I thought my late Dad's UK version had a slightly different Grille, but going back 50 or so years ago so difficult remembering exactly.

They were not cars for the outback at all. Neither the road conditions or the distances to travel suited them terribly well. The main problem was the use of the traditional body construction of metal stretched over wood frames. The frames would be shaken to pieces very quickly. I can remember these post-war models new, especially the Typhoon 2-door. Then there were the Sapphires, rather larger and more solidly constructed, well and truly a cut above the similarly sized Jaguars. My father had a Sapphire for a while in the mid-50s. Pity he did not keep it.

@reteP nala kralC You'd have to look at the particular car and work out just how much work it would need. A real problem would be finding someone who could restore using the original type of construction. Not many around these days and so expensive.

@reteP nala kralC The carb would be easy but you'd need to check about the big ends. Probably no problem. As always, the body is the real concern.
